Trivia:

Mommia was a brown pigment literally made by grinding down Egyptian mummies.

Carmine (Cochineal, E120) was used by the Aztecs and Incas and made by crushing beetles from the prickly pear cactus. Turner used it for brilliant reds despite warnings it would fade. Some of the greys in his paintings were once red. Since used in food and lipstick.

Lead white is a beautiful paint if you can get it and also bad evil toxic.
