In this second edition of Wachphase we proudly present Tara Erizo international DJ raised in Germany and currently based in London. Erizo combines different styles of techno ranging from groovy, bouncy to minimal and hypnotic electronic music.

//  What does your music mean to you? //
For me, music is a natural extension of my path as a dancer and performer. 
Both disciplines being intimately linked, DJing has become an additional tool to create immersion and convey emotions. 
Where my body used to be my main vehicle of expression, sound now expands this universe and strengthens my ability to take people on a full and sensitive journey.

// Where does your inspiration come from? //
My inspiration flows from all the music I listen to, regardless of style, my personal life experiences and from anything that can spark an emotion or a desire for expression and communication. I work very instinctively , and as a dancer, I feel I carry a very physical and sensual relationship with sound. 
 I’ve always had very eclectic tastes, and anything can become a spark for creativity. But I also draw deeply from the community around me, from the inspiring people I meet and the energy we share together.

// What do you think needs to change in the scene? //
I believe several things need to shift. First, the influence of social media, which often creates unhealthy pressure and distracts from the essence of our community. Then, the way big events and line-ups are curated: they are still too often dominated by cis white heterosexual men who all play the same kind of music, leaving little room for women, queer people, and people of color. What the scene really needs is more inclusivity, openness, and generosity of spirit, because in the end, it’s supposed to be about celebrating, dancing, and sharing
