Along the arc of Dalt’s music, beyond what steers her so allusively away from self-repetition, there is an undefinable forward inertia. What can explain, for instance, the near absence of her voice? Is it personal interest, renunciation, an embrace? Is she driven by a backdrop of conceptualism, or is this a lyrical wandering?

What we know, for starters, is that she made this album immersed in a cinema of her own, curatorial creation. Its filmic quality is a direct consequence of her turning her studio into a screening room for classic works of New German Cinema, pulling influence from directors such as Helke Sander and Werner Schroeter. As she works, she absorbs, and Ou results from a conscious staging of this process. The impact can be felt both at the levels of surface and structure. While the sound quality reflects these evocative, multi-layered scenarios, the larger departure from any of her previous works is the album’s spatial, mix-like composition, with each track being made up of several companion titles.

Ray by Yui Onodera is a lithe album of glittering electro-acoustic music which blends impeccable sound design and processing with acoustic instrumentation. The material was originally commissioned for use in a film about John Cage, so it's no surprise to hear the percussive sound of a prepared piano appear regularly throughout the album. Its plucked, staccato strings are contrasted by lush string arrangements and textural washes, argent synthesizer arpeggios add their own precise voice to the mix.

The material for Ray will feature on the film Cage 64 which is to be released in the near future. Our thanks to director Markus Heidingsfelder for letting us release it. The sleeve artwork is a collage of stills from the set design for Europeras (a series of five operas by John Cage) shown at the Ruhrtriennale in Germany, also kindly used with permission.

Hatis Noit and Kevin Richard Martin aka The Bug share their paranormal first cut 'After the Storm' via The Wire, ahead of their debut live performance at Le Guess Who? Festival in Utrecht on November 10.

The pair first joined forces during a Late Junction live collaboration session last year, resulting in four extraordinary pieces broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in December 2018.

Three years on from their debut collaborative album “Passive Aggressive“, Jonny Nash and Suzanne Kraft return with "Knife", the lead single from their forthcoming album, “A Heart So White”.

The single comes with an exclusive bonus digital track, "Processing The Negative", which will not appear on the full album.

“A Heart So White” represents a continuation of the working philosophy adopted during the recording of their debut; immersion in an unfamiliar recording environment with a limited set of tools and the goal of exploring the possibilities that lie within these limitations.

The album was written and recorded in the Willem Twee Concertzaal, a converted synagogue in Den Bosch, Holland. Whilst “Passive Agressive” explored virtual instruments and environments, “A Heart So White” shifts the focus to acoustic instrumentation, breath, air and physical space. Using the hall’s mechanical drawer organ and Steinway piano, the pair craft a delicately balanced suite of compositions, stripping things back to reveal the bare essence of their shared musical language.

Music for Baths Vol. I is the debut album from former Georgia resident Early Fern, and the inaugural release from new Métron Records project/sub-label small méasures - which aims to donate funds to organisations and causes of the artists choosing.

Having recently quit their full time job and begun seasonal work on organic farms, Early Fern began a process of reconnection in their own life. Taking the plunge to move away from the stresses of 9 to 5, along with the depression and anxiety engendered by participation in that lifestyle, they began to find a new grounding in remote farm-stays in Florida, Texas, and New Mexico. It was during this process that Early began recording music that mirrors their attempts to become more calm, more present, and more connected to their natural surroundings. It was in these sessions that Music for Baths was recorded.

Baths are a place where people have historically visited to find restoration, both mentally and physically, whilst soaking in the tranquility of water. It thus seemed appropriate that this record be an homage to those moments of calm, and to the process of healing. Indeed we can confirm that these tracks are a fantastic accompaniment to a soothing bath.

Early wanted to use the profits from this release to support an organisation close to their heart. Seeding Sovereignty is an indigenous womxn led collective which seeks to dismantle colonial structures and policies in politics, agriculture, and justice. These songs were recorded on colonised land, and by donating to them Early seeks to undo some of the harm of colonial structures and, in a small way, offset some of the privilege from which they benefit in a colonised nation.
