DJ and promoter I-sha discovered her love for DJing whilst living in Brighton. Through landing residencies at one of the city's foremost clubs, Patterns and label and party series Accidental Meetings, she's sharpened her skills and her ear for crisp club variations and bass-heavy experiments.

As well as cruising the airwaves on 1BTN each month, where she's hosted guests like TSVI, Iceboy Violet and ex.sses, she's also made guest appearances on stations across the UK, from NTS to Noods and Balamii alongside hosts like Martha and LCY.

Her latest venture, The Secret Shade, is shaped by her musical tastes and her experience as a club resident. Announced recently, the project will revolve around a series of special club nights with her favourite artists, the first of which took place on Halloween with Batu and Shannen SP.

Naarm/ Melbourne local Kasun ( @kasun-music ) presents Animix eighty seven with a stunning chuggy mix filled with trance-tinged gems and bassy rollers. 

Kasun is a well loved member of the Melbourne music community, behind label @temporal-cast. He's got a busy schedule at the moment with frequent sets in an impressive array of styles and genres at bars and clubs around the city. He also has a regular show on Hope St Radio called Altitude & Azimuth.

Can't wait to see Kasun on a late night slot at Animalia x Vortex @ Miscellania next weekend !! (come down!), and keep an eye out for a special Animalia x Temporal Cast collab coming in the au summertime ;)

Introduce yourself?

Hi there ~ I’m Jesse. I live in LA, run a label called Motion Ward, walk dogs, love food, make music with my friend John, DJ from time to time, and love my friends and family. Music is a way of developing emotional closeness with people for me :) 

Where did this gig take place?

This gig took place in Turin, which is in northern Italy right next to the Alps. The venue was a DIY space run by Misto Mame Collective and affiliates. About 9 people pay for the space to be able to operate monthly, and the feeling of community there is really strong and sweet. It was a highlight for me on this recent tour I did. Also really loved the people ❤️

What did you drink as you played?

I had one beer and water lol, and at the very end someone brought me a glass of red wine :) Was trying to minimize the amount I was drinking so I didn’t have to go pee, but eventually I had to loop a track and bolt to the bathroom :X (can you spot the moment?) 

Favorite moment in the mix?

Probably when it starts to escalate after the first few tracks ~ it reminds me of when the energy that night palpably shifted and felt like the dance floor was turning into an amoeba 🦠

with a weekend of forward thinking depth, incredible live performances & community support seemingly behind us, interlinked showed us that there was a celebration very much still to be had.

curated & soundtracked by Translate Sound, this was a cherry on top that those in attendance will not soon forget.

for those who weren’t, a haphazardly recorded consolation prize, at least until next time.
