„Nein, nein. Jetzt wird geschlafen.“

„Na gut, rein ins Bett mit euch. Eine Geschichte noch.
Also, es war einmal in einer grossen, grossen Stadt namens Wien. Dort lebten zwei junge Männer namens „Pischinger“ und „Dermota“.

„Das sind aber komische Namen.“
(…lachen)

Pischinger und Dermota waren sehr beliebt in der Partyszene von Wien, da diese sehr gerne Musik produzierten und die beiden nichts mehr liebten, als Leute zum Tanzen zu bringen. Sie waren nämlich Diskjockeys.

„Waaaaass?“

„Ja Kinder, Diskjockeys. Die legen auf und machen Musik. Die beiden lernten sich durch puren Zufall in einem Lokal namens „Camera Club“ kennen, einem der ältesten und eingesessensten Gaststätten von Wien. Sie haben an diesem Abend das erste Mal gemeinsam gespielt, wurden schnell Freunde und beschlossen ab diesem Zeitpunkt gemeinsam Musik zu machen – als „Pischinger & Dermota“, ihren lustigen Namen eben. Die Leute wurden ganz verrückt nach ihren treibenden Bässen, klaren Höhen und hallenden Percussions. Techhouse, Techno und alles was ordentlich antreibt – das war ihr Markenzeichen. Das DJ-Duo machte jede Party unvergesslich und ihre Musik hinterliess bleibenden Eindruck.

Und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind, dann sind sie immer noch gute Freunde und stehen gemeinsam vor einem tanzenden Mob an den Plattentellern.

The 93rd release on Darin Epsilon's label features the stunning debut EP by Pischinger & Dermota from Austria.

Welcoming new artists to the Perspectives Digital family is always an exciting occasion.  Hailing from a city famous for its historic musical roots, Michael Pischinger and Julian Dermota have formed a strong bond from their Vienna home on the River Danube.  Cultivating a distinctive sound with an acoustic touch, Pischinger & Dermota are not defined by a single musical genre but sit comfortably within the realm of Melodic House, Deep House, and Organic House.  Defining themselves as "protagonists of an impulsive, atmospheric and diversified sound", the Austrian duo have established an impressive reputation across their hometown with their meticulously crafted DJ sets at top venues such as Pratersauna and Sass Music Club.

In tandem, a production career has propelled them into the limelight with a clutch of high-profile releases dating back to 2014.  Now debuting on Perspectives Digital, Pischinger & Dermota begin a musical voyage rooted in North Africa.  With its beautiful opening piano sequence, "Ait Ben Haddou" combines organic instrumentation with a powerful beat and ticking hi hat percussion.  A repeated motif is the ideal backdrop for plucked string melodies and white-noise infused synth swells to combine in perfect juxtaposition.  Rising and falling with ease as it blossoms into the second half, "Ait Ben Haddou" is a splendid illustration of musical craftsmanship and modern electronic production techniques.

"Marakesh" is a further example of the marriage between electronic and native Moroccan instruments.  Atmospheric kora type motifs pierce the midrange while a shimmering arpeggio filters into sonic range as a perfect accompaniment.  Reprising the main melody at the stripped-back breakdown, the second half erupts with the analog arpeggio taking center stage.  A deep kick, rapid-fire shaker, and tuned percussion add subtle urgency as rhythm and melody combine in beautiful harmony.

A dynamic musical landscape finds Pischinger & Dermota creating a vivid sonic journey from "Ait Ben Haddou" to "Marakesh".
