Single for the upcoming album "Kongkraphan". The upcoming album Kongkraphan —meaning Invulnerable— was made to present the forgotten voices and sounds of unjustified wrath. The sound used was taken from the video clips recorded by the demonstrators from the actual incidents. This album of Pisitakun contains a variety of anger, sadness, confusion, as well as the power of joy and hope to change the country —the driving force of the demonstration in 2010.

‘Kongkraphan’ is the name of a type of Thai talisman that gives the power to be invincible. In this album, the term stands for the ideology and battle of the people in the protest that has never faded. It’s still invulnerable, passing down the philosophy from generation to generation until today.

The track titles are taken from the date of the protest event and arranged chronologically according to the time span of the incident.

On 15/05/2010, the military started killing the protesters early in the morning. Starting at 7am and around 8am, a 17-year-old was killed. Meanwhile, the Thai news agency from the military at that time has spread the news that the protesters have firearms but in reality, the protesters had no weapons. In the evening, one of the medical nurses was shot. While another man was coming to help the wounded person, he was then also shot himself. Both of them died at the same location.

The song begins with a reporter talking about the protesters that he has never seen the protesters use guns not weapons as the Thai news agency of the military reported. The next sound was a woman's voice saying, “I want to know how he did it. My nephew was wearing his uniform (nurse uniform) and was holding up a sign (medical unit sign). He went to help those who were injured. So why did they shoot? How could they do it? What do they have in mind? It was a person; it was the life of a person."

The bombardment took place day and night. In the middle of the night, a car was driving through the protest area. The driver was shot dead in the car, his head fell on the horn of the car.

In the song at 3:32 is the sound of the car horn which was recorded from the date of the incident. So long that it seemed endless because no one dared to help the deceased while he was lying on the horn of his car.

“I Am Here Now, When Will You Be Here Again?” collects 28 contemporary voices, from or with connection to the music landscape of Copenhagen today. 


In 28 songs and more than two hours of music ”I Am Here Now, When Will You Be Here Again?” presents a multitude of expressions. An empty holiday retreat, a portrait of a season’s end. Echoes of emotion, laughter in the background, someone cried here too. Sandalwood scent or patchouli, rain pools gathering on the piled up daybeds, it is colder now. If the storm comes, i’ll let myself get carried away too. I am here now, when will you be here again?


The compilation is presented digitally and as a limited set of cassettes out late October “I Am Here Now, When Will You Be Here Again?” is the newest addition to a lineage of Posh Isolation compilations. Sung in voices of today it echoes a past cry;  


“Give me a mask to put my face in. A mask to put over my other mask. What do I care if some curious person sees my flaws? Let this mask, with its black eyebrows, blush for me.”

“When you hear the sound system in the morning and smell a big hit from the chili and fish sauce, it means we have a ceremony happening,” says Pisitakun Kuantalaeng, remembering the local festivals that bring together every small town in his home country, Thailand. After moving from Bangkok to Porto in 2021, before eventually settling in Berlin, his new album on Chinabot acts as a wild, vertiginous, homesick ride through Thailand, as intensely flavoured as any of the food each track is named after.

This album “Kuantalaeng”, his third solo release on Chinabot, riffs on the Thai-language translation of his last name [ควรแถลง], which means “should make a statement”. As reflected in the playful tracklisting and album art, he imagines the album as a recreation of his homeland, showing real wistful longing while making a sly dig at the naive vision of Thailand as it’s understood in his new home in Europe.

“The image of Thailand is the food and the traveling,” he says. “Many times, when you have a conversation with your friend in another country, they will mention the food or the travels from Thailand. There are Thai restaurants everywhere in Europe that present this Thai image. But the thing that is in my mind is politics.” Thailand’s powerful tourism industry also works to eclipse its grim political reality, which recently saw a democratically elected political party get blocked from power by allies of the monarchy and military in the Senate.

“Kuantalaeng” seeks to balance this perception, facing its seemingly endless political problems head on while celebrating regional Thai culture. The album captures the joyful spirit of rural and suburban festivals, where you’ll find food stalls, religious ceremonies, traditional แตรวง, a kind of brass band, and huge, colourful trucks blasting รถแห่ “rod hare” music accompanied by dancers.

About Pisitakun:
Pisitakun Kuantalaeng (b.1986) graduated with a BFA in Sculpture, School of Architecture, Art, and Design – King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand.

Pisitakun has been weaving traditional Thai instrumentation together with pounding rhythms and rugged samples, building post-industrial noisescape since 2014. A large part of his inspiration lies in a frustration at his country’s political life and censorship rules, forging these protest songs to turn noise into fiery expressions of hope – and anger.

He has performed at CTM Festival (Berlin), Asian Meeting Festival (Tokyo), MEIA (Aveiro), Schiev (Brussels), Rokolectiv (Bucharest) and Cafe OTO (London). His previous releases on Chinabot are SOSLEEP(2018) created shortly after the death of his father from cancer, and combined traditional mourning instruments with harsh noise and techno beats, wrapping them around intimate recordings of the hospital machinery that kept his father alive during his final days. and Absolute C.O.U.P. (2020). He also released Kongkraphan (2022) on Yes No Wave, toured with Gabber Modus Operandi in Thailand. He’s also part of the SHAPE Platform roaster of artists for 2022 and has performed with the likes of Meuko Meuko, Abadir, Evita Manji.

The tourist board might try to paint Thailand as the Land of Smiles, but in reality, democracy and free expression for Thai citizens seem a far-off dream. The Southeast Asian country has undergone 13 military coups d’états following the Siamese Revolution in 1932, the most in modern history than any other country. “Since I was born I witnessed three different coups: in 1991, 2006 and 2014,” says Thai artist Pisitakun. “The question is stuck in my mind: Why do we have so many coups?”

Pisitakun explores this question on Absolute C.O.U.P. , his second release on Chinabot following 2018’s SOSLEEP. A whirl of hard techno, molam, military marching beats, Thai Pop and traditional Thai instrumentation, the seven-track record is a maximalist tour through the Thai political and psychic landscape, never sacrificing its wicked sense of fun in its pursuit of political justice.

Pisitakun is among the young Thai artists who use oblique playfulness to challenge the ruling powers in the face of censorship and prosecution. “I’m trying to collect the sounds, voices, samples or songs that relates to the coup and make songs from those sources. Each song represents the part of structure that supports the coup,” he says.

Opening track MoMoNarNarChy interpolates Pleng Sansern Phra Baramee, the Thai royal anthem. Played by Pisitikun on the phin, a lute from the marginalised Isan region of northern Thailand, he transfers the anthem through his analogue synthesizer to create a dissonant, unfamiliar version of the song, wrapped in techno beats and skittish distortions.

“This album was mix of different classes of music, from local to royal music, “ says Pisitakun of the album’s palimpsest of samples and tempo changes. “I try to put a lot of unstable parts into the song so that you never know when it will change, when it will be fun when it will be sad. It is like a coup in that you never know what will happen in the future. Only the one that makes the coup can know.”

Driven by military marching drums, ArArMyMy samples the Thai pop song Poor Soldier, a ballad about low solider wages, as well as the speech given in 2014 by the wealthy General Prayut Chan-o-cha shortly after his successful coup. Prayut, who implemented a number of anti-democracy and censorship laws, remains in power today.



As the world erupts in protest at police oppression, Pisitakun reminds us of the profound loss of human freedoms under a police state. His energetic defiance imagines an expressive, aggressive and deeply joyful world where the strata of power have been upended - a kind of coup in itself against the structures of hierarchy in Thailand.

The album includes three remixes from Gabber Modus Operandi, MSHR and ELVIN BRANDHI. It will be available to buy as a cassette or as a gold bullet-shaped USB stick—a typically subversive nod to the power and wealth of the Thai military elite. A visual artist as well as a musician, Pisitakun has made a painting for each song, which will be included as stickers with the physical release.

Pisitakun Kuntalang is a visual artist and musician living in Bangkok. He released SOSLEEP, his first album with Chinabot, in 2018 and appeared on a number of other splits and compilations.

He questions fundamental and increasingly universal values without merely decrying the fact of corruption or offering neat palliatives. His works are based on political speculation and the external and internal frustrations artists are subject to.

 Is the real name of Millionaire’s elder Mustache-Molam singer (northeastern-traditional singer), Patipan Luecha a handsome man of Molam (northeastern-style singer) who is famous from northeastern. He performed various melodies of singer Mekong civilization. Fate life, he is not good at all in August 2014, he was sentenced to 60 months in prison, but because he had pleaded guilty. The court reduced the sentence to 30 months. This famous case of a penalty was sentenced to a faith which is in the land that he had “LAM” (northeastern-traditional sing) freely under the oppressive dictatorship of liberalization. During his time in prison, the wall had not taken away his freedom.
