I Wanna Know You (Lover) First Run Through 



Found this in last weeks session, completely unmixed and unfinished. Not a clue why.



Yes this needs work, a finer hand than thine to twist and turn it from the core that stands. I did some rough balancing, cuts and boosts, shit loads of reverb on everything because why not and an attenuated kick. Standard pass with eq, dynamics, excited, maximized and master processed. No clips, no peaks, spectrum solid. Width is narrow at 30 l and r, maybe a spectral enhancer could work, but with it being 3 guitars of the same model I think keeping narrow keeps it more natural.

Separated the vocals and guitar this time. Remixed the vox to a nice limited distortion, changed the amp settings for the guitar to be more rockier. Heavy gain, heavy compression with high passes to reduce low end peaks. Drums remain the same except with a heavier kick. Reverb added to each part. Recalibrated the stereo out.



Cut some fat, taking 10 seconds off the original, tailed off the end.



This is a definite improvement over the original, much louder, cleaner and balanced. Still want to change the drums and would like a bass but I don't have one right now.

This one turned out better than i could ever have thought when i recorded this a couple of years back, getting recognition worldwide is no mean feat, alas i could never follow the bastard up and have been trying so ever since haha. there is something to be said for simplicity when it's done well eh?

Ola Horn Boy!

Echo My Bunny, Man. (Demo/Rough Pass)



Pissing around with the new bass and guitar, found a morsel of something approaching creativity and ended up with this very rough tune. I like this, it feels very 80's, like Echo and The Bunnymen. That vocal stab is just nice and I have to make it work. Intentionally withheld drums, wanted to be a little looser, you may find this is quite 'humanized' too as I haven't edited the timings.



This will be worked on, but I thought I would post to see what you think.

Echo My Bunny Man (demo)

Bored. Checking some of my old uploads, this piqued my interest.



The original was posted way way way back in 2011 and can be found here



Recorded on a PC that had 512mb of ram and an AMD Athlon. No monitors, I think it's QWERTY midi keys and a Tascam US-122. I do not retain the project files and I certainly didn't have the quality plugins I use now. It's likely a lot of this was made with Crystal, Rhino, Zebra, Z3ta and Absynth/Massive/FM8.



So I grabbed the track, amazingly it's in WAV so it's essentially CD quality in fidelity, a great base to work from. Ran an exciter, eq, dynamic compression then Izotope 9 master. Achieved a fuller, wider, more dynamic mix and gained significant db levels. Reference the original and you will notice the difference.



I quite like the track, given it's age, it holds up well.



What do you think? Should I do more of these?

Bored again. Thought I would try remastering this from 2007.



Shit base to work from, a 192kbps mp3. The original isn't the best of mixes as is. Anyway, tried to brighten, bring out the mids, enhanced the spread and made more punch in the mix. Added a small room reverb too. It's what it is.

Falling Tides.



I literally have no idea how this sounds, mixed on a LG soundbar lol. This was an experiment, using the audio chords to midi function in Cubase. Imported some guitar chords, scanned the chords, cubase created a midi chord track. I added a second guitar layer and reversed it, applied amplitude on both parts, auto panned the reversed part. Piano pulled from the process, bass manually inputted. Sax section from the midi chords with added harmonizer, crescendo the input, slow attack, big verb. Drums half timed from 120, big kick, natural kit, soft ride.



Standard mixing, thinned the lows, panned, cut top off bass. Cheeky room reverb to bind the sound then eq, comp, excite and full dynamics.



This could be horrible or decent, didn't use my card, monitors or even cans.

Lopsided (First mix)



pissing about on my new PRS Angelus A50E about 2 weeks ago and found a chord pattern. Plugged the telecaster in, recorded the chords and didn't make shit. Tonight however was a bit different, found a nice bass, harmonized strings and brass sections and some simple guitar support. Got something going here. Mix could be decent or terrible my ears are dead from this.

This is incredibly rough but posting regardless. All guitar except drums and horns. It's a tad over extended as I sent this to my singer and wanted them to hear the layering.

pitbulljones was formed off the back of an old band that i, Darren Peers, was a member off. I did a lot of the production work but as a band we had a creative diversity that produced some truly wonderous songs. Hence to say over time the band gradually disintegrated and i began to focus on my own output. Still learning the ropes and my tastes and styles always change so no 2 tracks ever come from the same background. I’m influenced by all sorts, Indie, Rock, Trip-hop, drum and bass. I take from all genres, all styles and eras and put them into my own little melting pot of a home studio and see what comes out.
