I am deeply sorry that we have failed you.

I struggle to find the words to express my feelings. As we watch the news, witnessing the senseless murders of children and women, witnessing entire populations being forcibly removed from their land, and witnessing ethnic cleansing happening before our very eyes, and still, we can't help but feel a profound sense of helplessness. We speak of freedom, love, and hope, yet suddenly, the world falls into silence. It's in these moments that we realize humanity has failed.

This set is made up of my own unreleased music, and I think of it as an album.

In 2019, I released another album/set. https://soundcloud.com/robot-heart/jason-douglas-robot-heart-burning-man-2019. People have shared that it has been the soundtrack for deaths, births, first steps, ceremonies, and the beginning moments of every morning. 

This Dust is the follow-up, and I hope it lives as full of a life as the first one. As with many sophomore attempts, it was hard to push it out into the world.

It was written as a love letter to the burn during the insular months of the pandemic.  I was with my closest friends and family, traveling to a new town on the East Coast each month while writing this. I wrote until I tapped the well dry, something I didn’t know was possible. It turns out that making electronic music when there is nobody to play it for will eventually lead to writer’s block.

If you’re reading this, I discovered that your energy is more in my music than I realized. An “audience” doesn’t exist in electronic music in the traditional sense. Both the musician and the crowd are on equal footing. There is no social contract that you must listen politely to my set and clap.  You dance if it’s good. You listen if it’s good, and you are under no obligations if it’s not.  We both need to show up, or the thing doesn’t happen. It’s co-creation, and I learned that without the co-creators, my creativity has a limit.

It was a titanic effort to finish this, and an even harder one for me to release it. It was filled with obstacles and doubt. It contains my heartbreak, grief, sadness, and a hope for when I would see my way to the other side of that.

The ethereal, melodic, and at times, cinematic themes I’ve played with here and in my 2019 set feel explored. Something new is coming through that I have been experimenting with. I don’t have it yet, but I’m finding its edges. For now, I’m glad to have this out.

About this journey:
This journey was recorded live in Turin, Italy, on 13th May 2024.
Thanks to an exceptional planetary alignment, on that occasion Chalanga shared the stage with 2 guests of excellence such as Nicola Meloni from Rhabdomantic Orchestra on Moog and Hydra synthetizers and brazilian percussionist Gilson Silveira on vocals and percussions.
The results was something unique and magic: a live band playing mostly Chalanga’s unreleased tracks:
some remixes and some free edits inspired by italian artists such as Matia Bazar, Lucio Battisti, Goblin and Loredana Bertè.

About Chalanga:
Chalanga is an italian duo composed by DJ and producer Patrick Di Stefano and multi-instrumentalist Diego Grassedonio.
Analog synths, percussions, drum machines and loops on sax and flute are the ingredients mixed by Chalanga during their live performances and studio productions characterized by organic house, world music, electronic beats, afro-futuristic patterns, psychedelic visions, exotic percussions and the
shamanic presence of the saxophone. 
The first frequencies transmitted by Chalanga have been intercepted by the Shipibo tribes of the
Peruvian Amazon and by the Yakuts tribes of eastern Siberia.

Love my friends who let me do experiments. Been testing 5 hours of new music with them last week, which eventually came up just to 120 minutes of the selection you are about to hear, a music rollercoaster.

Anyone who knows me is aware that I tend to exaggerate a little in my stories. But this time, I’m not exaggerating when I say that this morning was one of, if not the most magical mornings of my DJ career so far. 

Never before have I felt such an incredible amount of energy during a set. Never before has a set had such a lasting positive impact on me. Never before have I received so much wonderful, positive, and touching feedback. You all are truly amazing.

Honestly, I was moved to tears, and I can’t put into words how grateful I am to have had the chance to play this perfect slot at the lovely Mystic Creatures Festival. A big thank you goes out to the Bahnwärter Thiel crew for creating this beautiful Cosmic Circus floor. Well done!
And a really really huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to the best crowd in the world. It’s incredible that you stuck with me for so long. I will never forget those shining faces. 
I’m so excited to share this deeply emotional set with you.

Electronic music producer and DJ, Andre P, continues to make waves in the global music scene as one-half of the dynamic duo Andre P & Droomie. Known for his innovative fusion of Electronic and Downtempo sounds, Andre has carved out a distinct space with his releases on renowned labels such as Mónada, Leveldva, Serafin Audio Imprint, Baikal Nomads, Shango Records, trndmsk, and Gazgolder Club, among others.

Hailing from St. Petersburg, Andre’s sound is deeply influenced by his extensive travels. From an early age, he journeyed across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, Indonesia, and India, immersing himself in diverse cultures and sonic landscapes. These experiences have shaped his musical identity, making his productions rich with global textures and vibrant storytelling.

Andre has performed across the globe, including in Russia, Germany, Japan, India, Thailand, Nepal, Israel, Ibiza, and Phangan. He has also held residency at prominent clubs in Bali and Goa, cementing his presence in the international electronic music scene.

His travels and cultural explorations are the foundation of his unique sound—one that transcends borders and genres, offering listeners a multifaceted auditory experience filled with fantastic vibrations and eclectic influences.
