"Wissenwertes" zum Wort &gt;Club&lt; ?!

Unter einem Techno-Club versteht man die spezielle Form einer Diskothek, in der ausschließlich Techno oder elektronische Musik gespielt wird. Techno-Clubs haben oft den Anspruch, weniger kommerziell zu sein als Großveranstaltungen und die Sache der Szene in den Mittelpunkt zu stellen.

Die meisten Clubs haben feste Resident DJs, die dort in regelmäßigen Abständen spielen und das Image und den musikalischen Stil des Clubs mitprägen. Daneben legen unregelmäßig Gast-DJs auf. In den bekannteren Techno-Clubs treten oft internationale Stars der Szene (z. B. Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, WestBam) auf.

Im Gegensatz zu traditionellen Diskotheken sind in der Technoszene oft leerstehende Industrie- Werks- und Lagerhallen beliebte Räumlichkeiten. Oft sind die Clubs auch nach dem früheren Zweck der Räumlichkeit benannt, wie Tresor (Tresorräume des Kaufhauses Wertheim), Bunker, Rohstofflager oder E-Werk.

Allerdings ist der Übergang zu herkömmlichen Diskotheken eher fließender Natur, da insbesondere in vielen Großraumdiskotheken auch mehr oder minder regelmäßig Techno-Veranstaltungen stattfinden. Prinzipiell darf in jeder Diskothek eine Technoparty stattfinden (Prinzip der künstlerischen Freiheit, nach der dem Betreiber einer Diskothek freigestellt wird, welche Musik in seinem Lokal läuft) doch werden solche Veranstaltungen oft von der lokalen Obrigkeit mit Argwohn verfolgt, da sie fürchten, dass auf ihnen Leute zum Gebrauch von bewußtseinsveränderden Substanzen verführt werden. Aus diesem Grund mussten zahlreiche Technoclubs bereits schließen.

Neben teilweise mehreren Tanzflächen besitzen die meisten Clubs einen sogenannten Chill-Out-Bereich, der den Gästen Sitzgelegenheiten und eine entspannende Atmosphäre bieten soll.

Here’s my latest liveset, I’ve took over a hundred tracks, looped, dissected, edited, and then rebuilt. A bassline from here, a kick drum from there, a melody from somewhere else. Mixed across eight channels with the use of live synths this mix builds from warm up textures through to more peak time beats.

Greek born Kostas Tassopoulos aka Ekkohaus has readied his debut album for Moon Harbour. Entitled “Noschool”, it is the culmination of a close relationship between the Berlin based artist and the music label Moon Harbour Recordings from Leipzig. It dates back to 2008 and has seen Ekkohaus explore his trademark and very modern take on rich house over a number of regular releases at the sister label Cargo Edition.

It was in the mid-nineties that Ekkohaus first started making music, but not until 2005 that he unleashed his debut release. Since then he has worked with labels like 2020Vision, Tsuba and Mule and has taken his live show to lauded clubs like fabric (London), Watergate (Berlin), Space (Ibiza) and many more.  His debut album is a collection of new material from 2010 to 2012 and is titled as an anti-statement to the tiring old school / new school debates that rule the electronic community.

“”Noschool” is about bridging the space in between the two well respected schools”, he says. “For this project, I have used all possible means of production: analogue drum machines alongside with VST plug-ins, modular synths with Audio Units, original recordings as well as sample libraries. From the basslines to the sax lines, from the Rhodes phrases to the house beat, I hope there is something in there for everyone.”

The resulting 13 track album is one that explores the Greek’s signature sound – warm 4/4 beats, involving bass and cute sampling – but also leans on a whole lifetime of influence from jazz to funk, hip hop to dub to disco. Though offering plenty of dance floor dynamite along the way, “Noschool” also stands up to home listening or Sunday driving sessions.

The album features a number of exciting collaborations including Robert Würz on saxophone (“A Drive”, “D58” and “Mark Ma Words”), Jon J-Lab playing bass on “Reparations” and Lady Blacktronika singing on “Chasing Brown”.  As well as this, field recordings from Barcelona, Athens and Istanbul add an organic and real world element to the album from start to finish.

From the romantic jazz-house vibes of the opener “A Drive” to more propulsive but equally deep house cuts like “Reparations” each track tells a story. Cuts like “Keep Your Eyes On Me” are loose and freeform, vintage sounding yet forward facing, where “Buzzin Fly” works on both your head and heel with its contrasting textures and lush melodies.

Additionally to the album itself, coming on CD and as digital download, there will be an "Ekkohaus - Noschool" vinyl sampler released, with “Touch House”, “Reparations”, “Just Click” and “Rendezvous” all included.

I started out as a painter very young, then moved into video art and installation; then I moved to Iceland for a while. in Reykjavik I began to make music, when I played my tunes for the first time and I FELT THE BUZZ, (under a cheesy restaurant in my home town in the Italian Alps) I got addicted and couldn't stop...fuck paintings, installations and exhibitions, I just made and played music locked up in my little valley town from 2001 to 2005, than I moved to London to start work as a professional dj producer. In 2006 together with Steve Burkes I've opened a venue in East London called UNIT 7. I now play regularly in London and abroad as a freelance in clubs and parties such as AKA (Jaded), THE EGG (Deranged and Demented), COLOSSEUM (Atlantis), CAFE' 1001 (Resident), RHYTHM FACTORY (T.E.M.B.A.,Versus), CLUB 54 (Minimar,Break the pig), 93 FEET EAST (T.E.M.B.A.), MEET (Red Lights), AQUARIUM (Delate) PUBLIC LIFE, WHIPPING HOUSE, EXIT BAR and of course, UNIT 7 (resident). I'd like to meet anybody who knows when to speak and say interesting and funny things. I'd like to meet people that know what they do and do what they say. I can't stand flat narrow minded mainstream white trash wankers. I like people with a very personal way of living, whatever it is, but sencere and unique. I like people with dreams, I like people that work hard for those dreams, whether they manage to make it come true or not. I like people with questions and doubts. I can't stand cokeheads talking bullshit for hours in clubs, especially while I'm playing, especially if are males and all sweaty...I like pretty girls a lot, but I easely get bored.... My dream is to keep on rocking as many dancefloors as I can; if and when I get sick of it, I would like to open an eco farm somewhere in the world, live a simple life in contact with nature, cows, horses & co., grow my own food generate my own energy and sit down, think about all that's happened in those mad years and wait for a global catastrophe, which will come soon or later. If it doesn't work,I will go to a warm country and sell water melon on the beach till i die. Happy.
