John Minson, Mr.Hoedown, seen by many, as the father of Australian country music broadcasting, started his legendary radio show 'Hoedown' in the 60's and was still broadcasting right up almost to the start of the new millenium almost 40 years later.  I chat with John (who I've aways called my 2nd father along with my 2nd mum, his wife Anne) on Pixie's Bush Breakfast from 989fm in Brisbane.

Here I chat with the wonderful Shirley Friend, one of Australia's greatest bush laureates.  Shirley is everyone's grandmother, although not everyone's grandmother deals so hilariously with life. Her smash hit "The Mammogram" has been praised by Women's Breast Cancer groups for highlighting an important womens health issue.  She has forged her own path in this male dominated genre and has been a 'poet in residence' at many festivals not withstanding the greatest of all, The Woodford Folk Festival.

Fiddle player and comedian Pixie Jenkins has played with, supported and recorded for the big names in showbiz.  He is a multiple Aus country music awards 'Golden Guitar' winner, has had several albums released and has a radio show on Brisbane's 989FM.  He reinvented country vaudeville in the 1990's, inducted to the 'Hands of Fame and the 'Gallery of Waxed Stars' in Tamworth and has been an advocate for 'rea;' australian country music.  His solo shows are a sort after act in clubs and pubs around Australia.
