Fourth album for the well established Strata-Gemma project by producer Billy Bogus who, this time, joins forces with long-time friend MA Spaventi to create a project experimental under every aspect. 
Ristoranti Innovativi speaks to us - same as a film would - about an idea of consumption so exasperated to become obsolete, in the general amniotic unawareness. From this awareness restless scenarios arise, as in the opening track Bath Exotico but also classy as in the nu-jazz of Oliver Stoned. Vaporous Africanisms intertwine in the rhythmic jungles of Pintus and Witch Doctor and glide over the jazzy downtempo of Diorama and the atmospheric electronics of Giardino d'Inverno. Ristoranti Innovativi is an album of chiaroscuro that mix jazz and electronic rhythms, to show us that mental and emotional process can synch our moods - through music - with an often indecipherable present. 

Strata-Gemma are Niccolò Bruni AKA Billy Bogus on composition and arrangement, Luca Cacciatore on winds and Andrea Moretti on double bass. The band boasts regular appearances on the renowned radio broadcasts of Gilles Peterson and Raffaele Costantino AKA DJ Khalab as well as having performed at the Giant Steps and Brilliant Corner in London, venues devoted to nu-jazz and post club sounds. 

MA Spaventi is a sound engineer and producer who has collaborated with an incredible number of artists and labels, making his synthesizers playground available for music ranging from electronic and ambient to house and Italo disco. 

This collaboration was born from a strong friendship and it’s based on an insatiable desire to experiment with genres and feelings.

"Protest on the mountain" is an album of 21 remixes of a guitar and percussion duet that I played with Aidan Girt. This project is rooted in a community based connection with Aidan that has held for over two decades. 

I first met Aidan at a solidarity protest in the summer of 2001 outside of the Italian consulate in Montreal on Mont Royal. This protest was to both express support for the massive anti-capitalist protests against the G8 in Genoa and specifically to protest the death of Carlo Giuliani, who was shot dead by Italian police sitting in a van. This connection with Aidan has grown and evolved over the years, particularly around ways to build ties between activism and music. 

This project is shaped by 20 different artists reimagining a guitar / percussion duet that was recorded in the rehearsal space of Godspeed you! black emperor, a band that Aidan has played drums in for decades. These remixes illustrate also the spirit of community and building solidarity across borders that rests in both of our hearts.

Dream Chimney is happy to announce the upcoming release of Sparkling Water's first full-length album, Routine Gives Me the Space to Dream. This new release is a departure for Montreal-bred, Toronto-based producer Adam Waito, known for his work in the indie-pop scene. After a decade of personal evolution, including fatherhood and navigating a global pandemic, Waito's Sparkling Water project emerged, showcasing a stripped-down, synth-driven sound that prioritizes texture and melody.

Routine Gives Me the Space to Dream offers a gentle escape for anxious times, blending the digital chimes, FM mallets, and angelic choirs of 80s and 90s New Age and library music with nods to synth pop, deep house, and early electronic music. Across its eight tracks, the album evokes the environmental soundscapes of Hiroshi Yoshimura and the New Age experiments of Suzanne Doucet, while maintaining Waito's signature pop sensibility. It's an invitation to find patience, appreciation, and the luxury of a daydream amidst the noise of the world.
