The Annual World Fiddle Day Recital which takes place each May in Scartaglin Village Co Kerry is a fun event and features players of all ages,boys and girls, women and men sitting down together for a chat and a tune.The “Setlist” each year is chosen in advance so fiddle players can learn the tunes ahead of time.
The idea is simple , to honour the Sliabh Luachra  musicians of old and the music they played and to re- introduce some tunes back into the Community.
This year’s World Fiddle Day Scartaglin Fiddle Recital ‘ Handed Down … Through the Airwaves’ will be presented by  fiddle players Aoife Nic Chormaic and her husband Steve Larkin and their son Cuan
They have selected their choices from the Archives and  it’s going to be a great occasion with the following musicians honoured 
Willie O Connell, Sonny Riordan , Paddy Cronin, Julia Clifford , Mick Culloty,Seán Abeyta, Billy Clifford , Bridgie Kelliher, Denis Murphy , Seamus Ennis .
Aoife presents the Rolling Wave RTE Radio 1 programme every Sunday night at 9 pm .
She will follow in the footsteps of Seamus Ennis, Andrias O Gallachóir , Ciarán O MacMathuna, Pat Feeley and Peter Browne who all came from Radio Eireann to record in Scartaglin .

This was recorded in the eighties by a visitor to Bridgie’s house , he was an American Sliabh Luachra enthusiast called Jim Marsh .  Bridgie was of course a sister of Julia and a fine fiddle player herself .
