Vessels' original incarnation for "Elliptic" was quite something. Not normally known for their forays into electronica, the rock band's new direction could have sent them down the one way street to oblivion. Instead, the outcome was 8mins of true hypnotic bliss; sounds that were custom-built for that eyes-shut, euphoric passage on the dance floor.

The band’s 3rd album Dilate was recently signed to Different Records and gets re-released in 2016 with a caboodle of extra edits and remixes. One of those remixes happens to be by Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow. Grounded, or should we say lifted by that same somniferous feel, the makeover is amped by a puffier drum and low-end backbone. The movement is transformed from starry-eyed rapture to head-nodding beatitude — music for the mid-night rush and beautifully done at that.

I've always been a massive fan of Boards of Canada, if its not obvious already!  10-11 years ago I stumbled upon a bootleg recording of one of their extremely rare live performances at the Warp 10 Birthday party in 1999.  The closing tune at this show has always remained a mystery to me.  As far as I know it has no title and has never been released.  It's quite possibly one of my favorite things they have done and really is a shame it never came out. Fast forward to Summer 2012...  Since I am a huge nerd I decided to take this bootleg recording and re-produce it for fun.  Using the recording I laid new drums over the existing drum patterns (almost 100% accurate to original), replayed some synth parts and the bassline.  The only thing I didn't try to re-create was the original vocoder parts and some random samples so I used the bootleg recording for that.  I was tempted to make a shorter 4-5 minute version but I figured I should preserve the piece in its intended length (although the length was most likely due to it being a live jam).

Downloads limited to 100 (sorry I still haven't upgraded my account).  I do not claim rights to the original nor do I intend to ever sell this.  Not sure if I'm violating anything or not with Soundcloud so grab it quick!

After not releasing any new music for awhile and under-going a new name change, I figured I would throw together a little remix for you guys to let you know that there's still a ton of work going on behind the scenes. This one has a more gritty style then some of my previous tracks, but I tried to keep that same funky feel that you get from the original tune. Plaid (pronounced \ˈplad\) are the London based electronic music duo Andy Turner & Ed Handley. They are two of the founding members of The Black Dog, releasing their first EP in 1989 and signing to Warp Records in 1991. They have used many other pseudonyms including; Atypic, Repeats and Balil, but have focusing on Plaid since 1995. They have released 11 studio albums as Plaid, from 1991's 'Mbuki Mvuki', to 2022's 'Feorm Falorx'. 

Various sources claim they took their name “Plaid” from the Welsh word for “Party”.
