The forecasts are looking well, troubling times are of the past - the summer of love is on our doorsteps.
To celebrate we've invited the Montevideo born and Barcelona based selector Maximiliano Arrieri, also Known as Fatal, to translate his past seasonal experience into a musical journey.
With a broad selection of electronic music Maximiliano created a mix that floats between dark experimental rhythms and warm, breezy, balearic sounds.
The records where mostly digged up during his latest trip to Uruguay. But also found a lot of great records the past few months in Barcelona thanks to the strong record collecting community, with records recommended by befriended DJ's and dealers as Breixo Martinez, Discos Paradiso & Mauro Correa.

Nijmegen's own Guus Christian digs, plays, edits and enjoys colourful, soulful dance music. Sometimes deep, sometimes exuberant. Sometimes as radio host for Open Source Radio, sometimes as resident DJ for the infamous Blauwdruk parties. But always with an ear for honest musicality. In this mix, we travel the globe with him during an hour of music fit for a dance with sand between your toes and a setting sun on your face. Summer is over, but at least we got this souvenir to keep us warm during the winter.

@jefhecker: "Autumn has always been my favourite season. Cripsy, misty, golden, like a second spring, when every leaf is like a flower. I tried to fuse these characteristics into a musical journey. The journey holds a wide variety of music, ranging from rarities and accessible pieces. 
My essence of autumn is reflected within these songs. The purpose of this journey is to calm the body and the mind and put you in an autumnal mood."

Winter came and everybody stayed inside. While the soft white blanket of the first winter snow never came, the days were short and the heat of the club was not present to warm our souls. In this time it was that young and emerging UK digger Kayne the Hermit selected some of his favourite synthesised, wintery sounds to compile a mix that reminisces over this lonely winter that we can now finally leave behind us. Best consumed with a cup of hot, english tea. Enjoy!

As it is the shift between winter and summer, for Mostrow spring symbolises the light at the end of the tunnel. Just like in life, where people can get lost in their journey and have to try to remember that there will be a hand reaching out. This music selection is dedicated to those wandering souls.

Sticky Tapes 11 - Spring - Mostrow

Made up of a mixture of long time summer favourites and new finds from his recent trips to Portugal and Brazil, Wes' Summer Sticky Tapes embodies a typical spontaneous summer day. It starts off breezy and carefree after which it gets infused with adventurous summer energy, stopping by in various exotic places and ending with a dance on the beach.
Typical for Wes' summer, in which he was constantly changing plans according to the weather and mood. This spirit also comes back in the act of the recording; "Even though I started the recording with a well thought out plan, during the recording it felt better to start pulling out tunes of the closet spontaneously", he tells us.

Ajuma has been a longtime friend of the Plakband family ever since she did one of her first gigs on our party back in 2019. Shortly after she got picked up by the big festivals and by now she is one of the tastemakers in the dutch electronic scene, so it was about time we asked her back for a mix.
For her, autumn marks the beginning of the club season; "I created a mix filled with club records. To get yourself warm at night or to kick-off your day. Enjoy ❤️."

Have you ever experienced a feeling as if time slows down during the cold winter days? When each moment seems drawn out and the bitter chill in the air slows your movements and routine. This feeling is captured in this musical mixtape, with stretched out downtempo tracks that give you an icy chill. However, the longer you listen and embrace the cold, the deeper its warmth will affect you. It builds gradually, like your courage would on a cold winter day, encouraging you to go outside once the sun and its icy reflection hit you. Finally, as the mix comes to an end and the sun sets, stars still twinkle with distant magic, always promising the return of light tomorrow.

The love for music that Sander Emil possesses manifests itself in many different areas. For years, he has been pushing soulful sounds by organizing Blauwdruk and helping to set up the local radio station, which has grown into the force that is Open Source Radio today. More recently, he has been co-producing electro & house and even a disco edit that have caught our attention lately. 

But most of all, his love for music shines through when he plays his finds for anyone who wants to dance. As a DJ, Sander passionately searches for unknown gems that move, captivate, and intrigue. With a keen ear for rhythm, deep, and euphoric tracks, Sander can take you on a real trip. And that's exactly what he did with this mix, except this time in an extremely slowed-down fashion.

Like a Maserati mister Mascaretti came drifting through this spring of extremes. First sliding over the pavement in the rain, then dusting up the downtown streets in the heat. This sticky tapes is a representation of the gasoline that fuelled his turntables this spring. The TUTTI king leaves us with a stickytape that we ensure you, pedal to the metal, takes you from spring to summer.

Starting off the series is our own Mario Marini, who takes us on an hour and a half long journey through his colourful autumn dreams.

"I tried to capture the dreamy autumn vibes within the boundaries of my record collection. This hour and a half are filled with some of my favourite, dearest & coolest records! Some euro bin records and some not so euro bin records. Some hard to find records and also some records that you can for sure find in one of your local record stores.
Field recording, folk, library, balearic jazz-funk, breezy brazilian folk, bossanova (by a swiss schlager singer!!), dutch delights, soweto balearic, free-funk, new-age, spanish emo banger & more!

Recorded at home with: reloop turntables, shure whitelabel + orthophon needles,  omnitronic trm-202, tascam dr-40.

Second in the series are two young boys from Delft, that provide us with some much needed musical relief in these times of isolation. Starting off the journey with hopeful sounds, depicting a bright future of togetherness. From there on, they guide us towards the sweaty and dark basements of the world, filled with repetitive, machine-like sounds, that we all already miss so much. Enjoy!

In this two hour sound podcast Ralph Cunt takes you through a selection of his favourite Japanese music. His fascination for Japanese music comes with a fascination for the country itself. The way this country gives its own touch to literally everything. When artists like Haruomi Hosono and his Yellow Magic Ochestra took American Groove music and turned it into their own cosmic waves, there was no turning back. The synths and strange rhythms in Japanese 70’s fusion jazz and 80’s pop will take you away!

Sticky Tapes is a seasonal mixtape series. Four times a year we ask our favourite selectors to compile a mixtape in the ambiance of the seasons.
Fourth in the series is Bart Eichholtz AKA Tache, known for his tropical selections and the Rotterdam nights l'Afrique Discothèque. For his summer soundtrack he compiled a mix that feels much like returning back home from an exotic summer holiday, without a worry in the world. Those kind of trips are good for the soul, as is this mix. Best enjoyed sipping a caipirinha in your hammock. Or in your office chair, reminiscing those sunkissed moments. Enjoy!

Where our own Mario Marini once kicked off the series with a great autumn soundtrack, one year later the o;Riordan brothers follow suit with their musical interpretation of the season. Sharing their recent finds and all time favourites in spirit of the season which, according to the brothers, is characterized by transition. Leaves are falling, colours are changing, nature is getting ready for winter.
