The Chakras "We The People" released 2nd May 2011, through Planet Function, an indie rock subsidiary of R&S Records

‘We The People’ is a thumping introduction to The Chakras. It’s a propulsive, euphoric rallying cry, and a skyscraping statement of intent. Blasting through the speakers in a swirling, trance like mantra, it does all the things that an anthem should do. It means business. 

Formed in Dublin by the brothers Rocky and Gordo Whittaker and now based in London, all five members of The Chakras have been friends since their school days. House party banter and hazy dreams transformed into repetitive discussions and a focused ambition. The Chakras gave up everything else in their lives to concentrate solely on becoming a new guitar band that really mattered. 

“We don’t sit around in a circle singing Kumbya, but there’s definitely a spiritual side to any good music. We’ve got a real energy and emotion to our songs, so the name has stuck.”  - Rocky Whittaker

With a debut album already readied for the Summer (mixed by Chris Potter, renowned for his work with The Verve and Rolling Stones), The Chakras have little intention of taking a slowburn build.

If 2011 is supposed to have signaled the return of the guitar band, The Chakras are arguably the strongest example of that to date.
