Vexed" is a cold and dystopian sonic journey. Icy ambient pads envelop the listener in a metallic, space-like atmosphere, while a deep, brooding sub-bass pulses beneath the surface. Classic Phuse arpeggios weave through the soundscape, their phased echoes creating a hypnotic sense of motion; like ripples of frustration and inner turmoil. With a modern, subtly techno-infused edge, "Vexed" blends chilling melancholy with rhythmic intensity, capturing the tension between detachment and drive.

Inspired by the planet Venus.

The song title comes from the very last line in Greek lyric poet Sappho's "Hymn to Aphrodite," in which the lovelorn narrator invokes and asks the goddess of love for her help in the narrator's romantic stumblings.

Here are lines 25-28 from Julia Dubnoff's translation of the hymn:

"Come to me now once again and release me
from grueling anxiety.
All that my heart longs for,
fulfill. And be yourself my ally in love’s battle."
