Inspired by the kind of music you might hear in an aquarium and video games like Subnautica, Beyond Blue and World of Diving, Sub-Nautic is Planet Fall's first foray into the world of ambient music.

Planet Fall's first track of 2023, Desert Sands continues on from where our 2021 release "Desert Dunes" left off, blending elements of middle-eastern and north African music with basically whatever we think sounds cool at the time, in the case of this track, it was a reggaeton beat which we have already used several times on previous tracks.

We bought a soundpool from Producer Planet with Chinese instruments and loops, this was just what we put together, mostly using the soundloops in the pack and a few from elsewhere.

Timeless is Planet Fall's second release of 2023, it was initially intended to be our second attempt at the ambient genre though whether the end result fits into that category is another matter.

As a follow-up track to 'Sub-Nautic', we once again try our hand at ambient music in a style that wouldn't be too out of place as background music in an aquarium or in some kind of diving/underwater themed video game or film.

Aquatica

Originally created in 2021 using a mixture of J-pop vocals over electric guitars and a reggaeton beat, the 2024 utilises different sound settings and takes some inspiration from nightcore by increasing the tempo and pitch.

Shifting Tides

Rockbreaker is the latest track from Planet Fall, released 11/12/2024.

This track breaks away (if you'll forgive the pun) from some of the more ambient-style tracks that we've made in the last couple of years and looks to a more industrial style.

Imagine a mining ship out there, on some barren, inhospitable world, a crew working in hot, cramped and dirty conditions, day in and day out, tirelessly slaving away in the hopes of one day striking the motherlode and making their choices in life, finally pay off.

The latest track from Planet Fall, we made this one back in December 2024 shortly after making Rockbreaker but delayed the release until January as we didn't want to release them   together as they are largely unrelated. The artwork is work in progress.

Formed in 2008 by Simon Spencer as a personal project in electronic music. Initially, Planet Fall was known as Nightmist but after creating the first three tracks under that name, it was decided that there would be a slight change of direction and with this came the name change to Planet Fall.

All Planet Fall's music is created on a PC using a music arrangement program and Adobe Soundbooth, over the years the arrangement program has changed a few times, but throughout, the way the music is made has stayed largely the same, the tracks are created using a selection premade sound loops along with premade ones that have been edited and then some home-made ones created from scratch. All the premade sound loops used are either royalty-free with allowances for commercial use, or were specifically purchased with a commercial license.

Though Planet Fall's music did originally fit nicely into the electronica genre, recent tracks have seen some experimentation with different sounds and styles, a number of our tracks from 2021 and onward have borrowed elements from the music of the middle-east and north Africa, J-Pop, reggaeton, metal, ambient music and epic film scores.

As of 2021, the original Nightmist name has returned in the form of a side project of sorts, the new Nightmist music is not quite as it was once was when the original three tracks were made, but it will provide an outlet for tracks that don't fit well with the main project's style. Right now, the first four new Nightmist tracks are available to listen to here on our profile and also on ReverbNation, Youtube, Bandcamp, Deezer and Spotify.

Not counting the four Nightmist tracks, Planet Fall has to date released thirty six tracks, all of the tracks are currently available here on SoundCloud, but most are also available on ReverbNation and Youtube, many are also found on Bandcamp, Deezer and Spotify, and for a year we had a few tracks up on iTunes and Amazon Music.
