The legendary Rotterdam imprint Planet Rhythm formed in the early ’90s continues its strong release schedule that has seen many top artists such as Bas Mooy, Sleeparchive, Oscar Mulero, TWR72, Adam Beyer, Woo York and many more appear previously.

Dropping their second EP in the space of a few months for Planet Rhythm, the German duo Responder first contributed a VA track spanning back to 2016. Made up of Rico Henschel and Benjamin Sanker, the pair have also released on other great labels like Hans Bouffmyhre’s Sleaze and Florian Meindl’s FLASH Recordings.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the closing track “Fade” that is a perfect example of a rolling groove. A deep pumping kick drum and moody atmosphere are met with droning, electric pulses, woodwind inspired accents and pristine claps. Full of mystery and a dystopian ethos, this an understated piece of techno mastery that speaks to your soul.

" Hikikomori " Japanese term to refer to the social phenomenon that consists of isolated people who have chosen to abandon social life; often seeking extreme degrees of isolation and confinement, due to various personal and social factors in their lives. Following a recent killer release on Drumcode, Dutch-Chilean techno producer Ramon Tapia returns to his own imprint, Say What?, with the ‘Last Step’.

The three-tracker features two originals and a Nicolas Taboada remix — all tunes are soaked in Tapia’s trademark dancefloor-ready sound.

The title track opens the release  and sets the mood just right with its powerful kickdrums, dark synths and hypnotising percussions. Up next, ‘Plastik’ picks things where ‘Last Step’ left off to enchant us with its deep sound, rich atmospheres and angelic vocals. Last but not least, the Nicolas Taboada remix gives ‘Plastik’ a darker twist, making it the perfect peak-time dancefloor weapon.  

Ramon Tapia will release Last Step via Say What? on December 6.
