PT001 - Caravan - Riviera EP (Snippets)

Symptoms of Love, a project by Detroit duo Ryan Spencer (Freakish Pleasures) and Ben Christensen (Sector 7G), present “Foam EP” scheduled to drop in January 2020. This is the team’s second release, a follow-up to their recent “Eye Contact” (SOBO, Montreal). “Foam EP” reflects a contrast of the high-energy late nights and laid-back afternoons in the sprawling echo-chamber of Detroit.

Recorded over the course of two years, the duo stack live instrumentation onto the vast synth and drum machine collection in Christensen’s home studio. The tracks are finished with explorations into sample-based wormholes that deliver a truly diverse EP. The sounds cruise through balearic and streetsoul inspired smoothness, machine funk dance floor jams, and bleepy percussive workouts.

This five tracker holds a mood and groove for every hour of the dance; be it peak time, sun up or sun down. Early support from Jex Opolis, Millios Kaiser, CC:DISCO!, Lauren Hansom, DJ D.DEE, Ben Fester, Ruf Dug, Bayete & more…

PT003 sees Planet Trip take a Trans -Tasman journey to Wellington, NZ for a new EP from the prolific Borrowed CS, alter ego of Lord Echo Drummer, Cory Champion. 

All four cuts on the EP see his deft drum programming laying a foundation for a tough and diverse record. The A-side holds the percolating jack track ‘Balance’ and the bleepy cinematic synth work trip “Ururangi”. Flip it over and you’ll find the infectious outsider boogie jam “ Mystic Shuffle” sitting comfortably next to the hazy and dubbed out club construction Ascend (Model 101).

Dance for Relief is a way to use our music to help raise funds for causes that we are passionate about. The second release in the series is a compilation of edits, remixes and secret weapons from various friends, with Volume 2 focusing on summery, festival-ready house sounds.

As before all proceeds raised from this release will go straight to Direct Relief (directrelief.org), a charity whose mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies, and who are doing great work to ensure that protective gear and critical care medications get to as many health workers as possible. Their work continues to be particularly important in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Finally, we'd like to say a huge thank you to all the artists involved who have given their skills and time during a difficult period to help make this release happen, in support of a worthy cause.

PT004 sees a Belgium via Morocco friendship and studio collaboration @mameen3 take the reigns for Planet Trips fourth physical release. A group made up of much loved and respected DJ, digger and curator of the always on point Elsewhere comps @sofaholic connecting with innovative producer Reda Senhaji aka @cheb-runner, whose refreshing approach tips the no boundaries no borders sound only few can uniquely pull off.

The Incunabula EP spotlights 4 club focused jams from the groups recent heavy output, channelling influences from their diverse tastes and effortlessly marrying hypnotic percussion, Middle Eastern rhythms and machine funk psychedelia into their very own style no style.

A collection micro holiday audio tours from good humans around the world covering everything from hazy downtempo cuts & balearic trips, hypnotic midtempo melters, dubbed out vocoder jams, broken beat and house. 100% of all sales from this release will be donated to Deadly Connections, a local Indigenous-led org who provide culturally responsive interventions and services to First Nations people and communities, particularly those who have been impacted by the child protection and/or justice systems.
