"The opening track... it hits like a Mack truck. One if the more aggressive tracks off 'Illuminate'. This one was a commentary on our modern world as an average frustrated individual who isn't content with their environment and life direction might see it. Kind of sounds like you, huh? Good.

It's not necessarily a political 'call to arms' or 'anti-government' anthem... but more of an 'open your eyes' proclamation. Nowadays, I believe most people are so apathetic about things that directly affect them, yet so passionate and aggressive towards others about things that don't and/or shouldn’t concern them. So this was a sonic and poet criticism of the aforementioned. It's also really fun to play. So take it for what it's worth and enjoy."

"Fast, obnoxious, and aggressive. The best words to describe this one. 

This was written about a not so perfect relationship. They all have there ups and downs, yes I know this. So nothing too out of the ordinary here. But I started realizing whilst in the middle of the aforementioned relationship that I craved the disaster and distress that this beautiful woman brought into my life. As long as it's not too destructive I believe we all need a little catastrophe in our lives, right? Makes life fun, unpredictable, and worth living."

Complicate Me

"The closer. The acoustic jam. Probably one of my personal favorites off the EP. It was a last minute deal, written while we were recording the album. Not really intended to become a PWP song but the guys didn't mind it going on the album. So why not.

The song comes from a downtrodden perspective of a guy reflecting on his recent broken heart. Just trying to let go and not let his heart callous over. Remaining optimistic while reveling in the pain and sorrow. The line 'just like pouring the salt on these open wounds' describes the song pretty well. Enjoy being sad, it's healthier than hiding or running away from it.

It has a raw feel to it. The most stripped down any of Plane's other acoustic songs have been. It's my take on a folk song. Lots of open chords and honest lyrics belted out.

Also it isn't very slow either, which I thought was clever."

"Our first single off 'Illuminate'. This one quickly became a fan favorite. Originally written as a slow, melancholy acoustic ballad. The band changed that post-haste. We felt it right to have it fast, poppy, and catchy... although the lyrics remain heavy-hearted. 

If you take this song for face value it is a song about a break-up. One that still stings and you haven't gotten over even after some time. The one break up that shook your world. You know, that one that got away. 

But the deeper you go into the lyrics you'll find that even though the tune has a desolate tone it has the glimmer of hope. Acceptance is a beautiful thing. Being content with the shit hand you've been dealt isn't a bad thing. Sometimes you'll find you can't change life and letting it change you for the better is the way to go. It's called growing and maturing. Or at least that's how I see it."
