The record explores the borders of the sound that was born in the white island, blending it with a “new-wave” oriented vibe. On the A side, Saint Petersburg based producer, shows us what he likes the most partying obscure rhythms with summery-soothing atmospheres. On the B side, the talented Greek producer “Anatolian Weapons” takes over the control by remixing Shujumi. We've the remix by Pletnev premiering via us today.

For our fifteenth release we are pleased to introduce Selva debut’s on GLBDOM with Duffel Bags EP.
Selva is producer and occasional DJ hailing from Merida, México who produces a sample based house sound for both home and club use on his old computer.
This EP is a house incursion into the old school hip-hop subculture and sampling techniques. Jazz and soul loops and cuts vandalized with urban noise and covered in dazed out synths. Some tracks are aggressively energetic like the opener "Duffel Bags" and the East coast styled "NY1994", while others like "Electric Sheep" and "Sampled Dream" offer mellower grooves for easy listening.

Next up on Lyssna Records is no other than Aspetuck from the great state of New York. He's a friend of the label and one of the hardest working producers around. We're immensely proud to be given the privilege to release his four track masterpiece "Lost the Key". The EP is full of swirling 303s, off kilter beats and synth laden soundscapes, ingredients we love here at Lyssna HQ. "Lost the Key" is slated for a Bandcamp exclusive release on the 3rd of September before it hits streaming services and other online boutiques a bit later.

Words Of Niō serves up one of his stylish house originals on Get Physical Music, with Jelico remixing.

Multi-instrumentalist Words Of Nio aka Yul Gomez makes music that blurs the boundaries between the physical and emotional realms. The Spanish artist has been doing so for the last five or so years on the likes of Renaisssance, Wood, Humans and DNC Limited.

His majestic ‘Cold Shoulder’ is seven sublime minutes of progressive, spiritual house music. The tension in the synths keeps you locked in while lithe grooves unfold below. The emotive vocals are filled with pain and yet are beautifully delicate and mysterious.

Jelico is co-owner of Swoon Recordings and one-half of Get Physical’s Stereo.type. He is at home on leading underground labels and has DJed all over the world for many years. This knowledge imbues his music with a unique dynamic that is evidenced here. His remix is more chunky but stays deep. The synths are cosmic and bright, the drums sway low and the whole thing has a late-night feel that is perfect for cosy dance floors.

These are two superbly tasteful house tracks from all involved.

PREMIERE: Future Self — No Sunset (Acutek Remix) [Self Control Records]

'Does anything ever stays the same? Everything changes, even when it's not in motion. 

Nevertheless, Maximoto from Utrecht puts our minds in motion with his philosophically titled EP To Remain The Same. The debut single is released on OOSSHA, our sister sublabel. 

On To Remain The Same you can hear Utrecht based dj, producer and nightlife entrepreneur Maximoto is inspired by Italian disco, New York house and European new wave from the eighties. Just wait when the moody melodies kick in on mid tempo opener One Touch and you are in balearic heaven, with the perfect sunset just beyond the horizon. 

Title track To Remain The Same is equally laid back, with a stunning bass synthesizer taking front stage, waiting for a delightful acid line to take over. Lauer displays his love for Depeche Mode with an ace remix. He turns One Touch into a sparkling disco groover that clearly pays tribute to Behind The Wheel, a big hit in the ninetees. 

Closer Asking You To Wait is another play with words. Blissful beauty in slow motion. Imagine Saint Etienne in their best years, remixed by Andrew Weatherall. That kinda vibe.

Maximoto - To Remain The Same (incl. Lauer Remix)

Atlanta-based producer Sejva joins TAU for his debut release, Black Lipstick. With releases on Diynamic and Nervous, among others, he’s al- ready established himself as a remarkable talent who fuses retro elements with a future-facing sound to cultivate a style that is all his own. On Black Lipstick we get four slices of Sejva funk, each of which presents a different side to the artist, demonstrating his dexterity and diversity...

The EP opens up with ‘The Midnight Bells’, a track that is buzzing with vibrancy from the first few notes. Sejva immerses us in entrancing synth lines and a grizzly bassline, with punchy beats and an all round ecstatic atmosphere. By the time we reach the breakdown it’s time to really get loose.

Title track ‘Black Lipstick’ feels as though it’s been transported to the future from the 1980s. A new wave-esque vocal and jaunty production encapsulates a feeling of years gone by, while maintaining the polish of contemporary production levels. Guaranteed to send the dance floor into a state of euphoria and positivity, this is a peak time cut that showcases Sejva’s unique talent.

‘Two Heartbeats’ features more vintage drum machine and synth work, with a shift in mood, taking things a little bit more downbeat. More mesmerising vocals give this track its distinct character, and we’re treated to a wonderfully energetic and captivating piece of music.

Finally, ‘Don’t Tell Me’ ends things on a high, with big room vibes and a melancholy, romantic vocal. Sejva closes his EP with a track that offers a transcendent experience to the listener, an electronic synthony of machine-created melody and rhythm that merges the past with the future to great effect.
