Incoming signal! It’s time to tune in that radio. For the 25th chapter in the VSA Radio broadcast we have invited cynnamon (@cynnamon_gyrl - she/her) into the studio, to entertain us with a bunch of dynamic and bouncy breakbeat, techno and gabber tracks. cynnamon is still a newcomer to the scene with only a couple of months experience, but during that short amount of time she has already established herself as an Uumphff Radio resident with a flair for high energy grooves. Say hello to cynnamon:

“I started DJing about five months ago when a friend pushed me into playing at Uumphff Radio for one hour. I practiced maybe one or two hours before I DJed live for the very first time. I just took a bunch of songs that I liked and played them, and it worked out pretty well! Djing felt very natural to me, probably because of my past as a bassist in a Grunge band. I kind of had a good feeling for music and rhythm. With my first radio show and its mix, I received a lot of positive feedback and love which made me extremely happy and encouraged to dive more into it. In the past two months, however, I had a bit of a crisis that I think some DJs experience as well. I asked myself, in what genres do I want to specialize and how can I combine them, since I like a lot of different kinds of music. I started to not be satisfied with my mixes because of high expectations on myself, which made me feel too insecure to execute my visions and ideas. But now I figured out that the best and most fun way of DJing is, to just do it instead of overthinking it. So here I am back again with a bunch of songs that I like and more than ready to pursue my journey as a DJ!

For this mix, I experimented with combining versatile genres like Gabber and Hardcore with Breakbeat and GT Tech, but also using elements of Techno and nostalgic remixes of long forgotten favourites. I hope you’ll enjoy it ❤️“
