In the final episode of my 2024 show on NARR Radio, I am delighted to present Season’s Greetings—a celebration of the Autumn Equinox inspired by Chanelle Allesandre’s interdisciplinary exhibition In a sense / In Essence at Lump Gallery in Raleigh, NC.

Originally recorded on September 22, 2024, amidst the gallery’s installations, this collaborative transmission has been thoughtfully reimagined by me, doris dana, to evoke a dreamy, altered state of mind.

Featuring music, poetry, and botanical musings, this sonic capsule captures the essence of the exhibition. With contributions from contemporary underground artists and reflections on rowan and solomon’s seal, it serves as both an archive and a cornucopia—an auditory imprint of a season in time.

Poison Damage, the artist behind Plaster Fe’s inaugural release, Angel is Calling, returns to the label after two years with KSA, a hauntological transmission that spins field recordings and uncanny drones into a shimmering web of transient atmospheres. Faded sounds submerge and resurface, interred in rotting sawdust, rattling softly through landscapes that serve an unearthly pulse. Here and now is the machine, the field that rests on calcified wire, gears that pull waves of rusted wheat in rippling unison; hear the shudder and the hum, the facsimile of wind, and let it roll slick across your skin. KSA deals in more immediately melancholic and organic tones than its predecessor, trading Angel’s synthetic extremes for a measured, mature, and intuitive permutation of Poison Damage’s signature brand of ambient dub. The album also boasts a renewed focus on collaboration, featuring contributions from Vanessa Rossetto, Dear Laika, Netlag, and labelmates secat and Another You that all add distinct individual shades to KSA’s eerie emotional palette. This is an unambiguous leap forward for Poison Damage, boasting a sophistication of texture that expands their sound to engrossing, singular new dimensions.
