Mizell & Alphonso ‘Fonce’ Mizell – Producers, composers & song-writing duo of some of the best that came out of Jazz Funk in the 1970s. You will hear Rance Allen Group, Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey, Johnny Hammond, Gary Bartz, L.T.D to name a few that have been part of the Mizell powerhouse. 

Also, we'll be showcasing some newer cuts of DooWoop Soul, home-grown tunes, rocksteady, afrobeat, Italian movie soundtracks and more. Not forgetting our new back-to-back feature 'The Plastic Mix', which will certainly feature again.

Welcome to Plastic Fantastic, The Vinyl Only Show...

... Memories of the early 1990s. Warehouse parties, sweaty and booming nightclubs, illegal raves in the Welsh countryside, all back to friends’ houses afterwards, dancing and chatting nonsense to the early hours of lunchtime. This is what brought me to the idea of making this mix. I have to confess, that even though my musical palette has become more ecletic and possibly refined since then, I’m still a sucker for the nostalgic and heady days of Electronic, Breakbeat and the often-Soulful sounds, that dominated a good portion of my misspent youth.

This month’s Plastic Mix is an introspective dig into a collection of vinyl records dating back to 1986 Chicago classics, Deep House, Italo House, Disco & French House spanning the early 1990s to now. Naturally, growing up in England, I couldn’t help but also throw in some good old U.K. Old Skool/Hardcore classics to boot. 

Happy Birthday to Jas, our guest producer whom this mix was 'tested' on five times in a row(at her request)and who confirmed it to be 'banging!' We hope you'll agree with her findings.

We’ll be back for more full shows soon, where almost certainly we will not be playing House music. 😉
