From the hip to the hop

We return for our second volume of Free Dubstep showcasing ten tracks from artists who we've got big plans for in 2019 and beyond.

Ali McK & IYZ return alongside label founders Tik&Borrow once again to VIP 'Midnight Dub' from the first volume, whilst we also see returns for RUFUS!, Dunman and Hamdi who provide choice solo cuts.

Aztek returns, but this time alongside man like Oddrac and Ekula goes solo from his Six Sunsets project with his tune 'Champion'. J. Kong is the only newcomer to the compilation, but makes it 3 releases on the bounce at In:flux with this one, providing two different but banging tracks that showcase why we're keeping him busy. Tik&Borrow then take another track from their vault to close out the compilation with a solo piece entitled 'Regenerate'.

This one is our first official release of 2019, and if this is anything to go by, it's gonna be a good year!

Supporting this album will help me to support my family and pay the bills whilst I face highly uncertain times without money from live gigs coming in. As is well documented, the streaming effect on the industry has made live shows the most vital part of earning for musicians and we all need to be pro-active in securing a future doing what we love until things start to become more clear through the clouds of this global crisis.

Underground media hub Sermon 3 Recordings, founded by established producer and engineer The 83rd, turns 4 years old this August. To celebrate, Sermon 3 will be releasing a special anniversary compilation with a power circle of artists bounded together by its multimedia web.

‘Sermon 4’ bridges together artists from all over the world, as the release opens with a new track from Alice Glass who has laid the groundwork for her fellow mutants to come through. Ghetto house legend DJ Deeon samples Roddy Ricch’s ‘The Box’, Via App opens the chamber releasing the highly sought-after ‘Electromancy (Esh Umaim Version),’ whilst NEUTER//MRTRU3L0V3 flip the switch contributing a luscious deep house record.

Through community activism, DIY shows, underground raves and online forums, Sermon 3 has become a place where underground communities from around the world can find each other. These are the well deserved and overlooked voices that power mainstream society. The black, brown, inner city, queer, hyper-creative, boundary pushing artists that define generations have found a home with S3R. With Sermon 4, this home is also extended to Circa After Death affiliate Odete, deconstructed Latin club artists Meth Math, sound and art performance duo Scraaatch and Oakland visionary DÆMON.

Chris Reed, also known as Plastician (formerly Plasticman), is a Producer / DJ from Thornton Heath in the London Borough of Croydon.

Plastician is unique in that he is respected as one of the true pioneers of both the Dubstep, Grime and most recently Wave genres. 

Always reputed for selecting from a broad range of bass heavy styles and seeking out the genres that emerge from between established scenes.

He plays a monthly radio show on Rinse FM, where he has been credited for breaking many artists and collectives on his show, some artists who had their first plays on his shows include Joker, Om Unit, Klasey Jones, Mura Masa and countless more.

In 2006 he spent 18 months on BBC Radio 1, making him the world's first DJ to have a specialist dubstep and grime radio show on national radio.
