Simple Insights

Here is a track i have been keeping in my stash of tracks since a long, long while. A much different style for me, i could describe as techno-metal or something. My music really goes with how i feel, one day smooth rock, one day electronic, and other times, harder rock or metal. I like many genres of music, actual genre definition kind of sets boundaries in music, so much styles can overlap each other. 
On this track, i explore lead synths, with distortion, over a metal drum beat by Jim Dooley. I also play the bass on here, had lots of fun recording it, about time i show it to the world!  
Best enjoyed on a big hi-fi system, or good headphones, cellphones and laptops are not meant for listening to music... Sorry... They ruin our long mixing and mastering hours with their miniature speakers... Ear buds are a bare minimum.

Simple: This song is in memory of George Floyd and every other minority in the world who has suffered injustice due to racism and every other negative "ism" that exists in our "modern global society." Theo and I have worked on countless music projects over the past 40 years. I have learned a lot from his stubborn and headstrong views and methods of recording and mixing music. His influence on my soundscapes is immense. In 2014 we both enjoyed working on “Where Do We Go From Here?” (2014 - Etched Traumas - ET77) which became also part of the soundtrack of Australian short movie “Grid Face”. Pieces for acoustic guitar and loop station.

In 2017 I worked on a sequel, the guitar suite "Licht". 
“Epitaph (for TC)” is originally a demo version of one of the pieces but unused in the “Licht” version as it appeared on CD (2018 “LIght / Well” - Thirsty Leaves Music - TLM019). Due to Theo’s health problems it was not possible to collaborate on this project but he appreciated the sober minimal guitar pieces for what they were.

I will remember Theo with great respect for the rest of my life.

Around the time that Henrik and Ferdinand were riding through the forest, Olav looked out the window of Mrs. Busbee’s shop and realized that it was quite dark. He wished Mrs. Busbee a good evening, and walked back across the street to turn off the lights and lock up his shop. He looked at his desk and remembered that he had been interrupted in his installation of a new typewriter ribbon when he heard the commotion across the street. “Might as well finish up before I go home,” he thought, and walked around to his seat. 

He pulled out his chair to sit. “EEP!” Olav jumped back. There, sitting in the chair he had left just a few hours ago, there was a slim, square package. He looked around his shop – he was positive nobody had entered while he was gone. Cautiously, he picked up the package and peeled back the paper sleeve. It was another album, like the one left at Mrs. Busbee’s shop! A small note on the back read, “Recovered from 2006 with love. PS send help – MOD”

Time Machine Chronicles Part 8 - Percival Owl's Good Fortune

Was watching a movie set in the Caribbean Islands. That was gorgeous, and I let my imagination run wild. All this sun, clear waters, light wind on my skin, feeling free and happy. I have to say I’m very visual. I create a scene in my head where I’d love to be and that in itself creates the music to go with it. 
Just picture yourself on an uncrowded white-sand beach, walking barefoot on this warm fluid sand under your feet. Looking out to these clear blue waters. Just picture going in for a swim, feeling the refreshing coolness of the water on your skin. Going snorkelling, sailing or windsurfing. Feeling exhilarated and free.
