Early EPs Chad Valley and Equatorial Ultravox were produced in the now-26-year old Hugo Manuel’s bedroom, but conveyed the exotic flair fit for the early hours at a paradisiacal island nightspot, with a whopping soundsystem-appropriate dynamic to boot. The thoroughly modern pop producer is now about to release his debut solo album as Chad Valley, and it’s considerably more consummate than most first outings. Knock-out production, a unique set of influences, unbelievable guest singers: Young Hunger is about having the fire and strength to realise your intentions.

Introducing LB006: WIFE - Stoic.

25 year old multi instrumentalist James Kelly is until now best known as the sole permanent member and writer behind black metal outfit Altar Of Plagues, who have released two critically acclaimed albums on iconic labels Profound Lore and Candlelight. Using found sounds, homemade instruments and field recordings as a base, Altar Of Plagues create music "Full of radical tangents and alien-to-black metal elements, more focused on frailty and struggle than majesty and grandeur" (Pitchfork).

These ideas transfer to James' solo recordings as WIFE. Embracing his long standing passion for electronic music, the tracks on 'Stoic' showcase a diverse range of influences and are built to endure. The A-Side moves from the mournful, hypnotic opener 'Bodies', through the cold mantra of 'Trials', to the shuffling trickery of 'Circles'. Side B contains the Gothic 2-step beauty of 'Shards' and the epic, industrial crescendo of 'Endings'.

With an uncompromising vision - and an remarkable live show - to back up these initial offerings, WIFE is a truly unique talent.

WIFE will release further material on Tri Angle in 2013.

The catchy melody of an icelandic and the cheerless music of an italian, the sunny side of a hazy country and the greyness of a bright one, the warm chords of the north and the algid computer music of the south.
Balmy arpeggiators, frozen guitars, harmonic noises and retro beats mixed up in a quite original sonic result.
Started as an “indietronic electro acoustic ambient emotional instrumental” project, Plastik Joy begun involving all the influences and the new music ideas of the two members. The result being a simple big container of Fannar’s and Cristiano’s own musical language.
A constant evolution that still has its defined character and sound.


In 2009 Plastik Joy's released the debut album 3:03 that emits a definitive nocturnal quality, straddles moods and styles with great finesse leading you down for a few moments before you are emotionally lifted up again by a passing melodic element. Walking such a fine line in their emotional creativity makes it hard to believe these guys never plan their attack; they just go where the song takes them. Coke Machine Glow said of 3:03 "I don’t think I could sense anything more sunny or meditative than this happy bundle of pain. " Others have named checked Dntel, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Four Tet as stylistic signposts for Plastik Joy. Listening to the new material and the live show, we could add some of the representative artists of the glo-fi movement.


In spite of the ambient dreamy atmospheres of the first album, the new material and live show are quite energetic and intense mixing the old melodies and soundscapes with powerful beats and a more intensive use of synthesizer.
