Offenbach's own DJ Simlocked brings a lifetime of musical passion to the decks! From rocking out on the guitar as a kid to transitioning to drums, his journey through the music world has been wild. Around the time he was performing with a Skramz band, the rave scene captured his heart at the age of 17, leading him to pick up DJing in 2014.

While stating that her early selections of electronic music might not be particularly flattering today, Simlocked's influences evolved qucikly to include Detroit legends like Juan Atkins, Gerald Donald, Mad Mike, Detroit In Effect, and Octave One. His production journey kicked off in 2017, drawing inspiration from contemporary artists like Stones Taro, Nikki Nair, Chloe Robinson & ADHD, Shcuro, Ben Pest, Viikatory, and CEM3340.

Now a member of the Hamburg-based collective and label Action Replay Codes, DJ Simlocked has graced clubs like PAL, Bürro, Silbergold, and Tanzhaus West in the Frankfurt area. Until you catch him spinning the decks at the club, join us in this genre-bending Vinly mix of ghetto breaks, groove, and techno to initiate the weekend with the right moods!

Traditionally, knucklebones were used for divination by shamans around the world. They were also used for games of luck like Astragaloi in the Mediterranean or communal pass times like Shagai Kharakh in Mongolia. The sound they make when they are thrown is crisp and unpredictable due to their irregular form and density, so knucklebones were used to make percussive elements of music too. Scholars once used them for arithmetic and counting, bridging the practical and the creative. 

For me, Knucklebones is a tribute to my musical journey and the many people who’ve filled my mind with beats, breaks, and melodies along the way. It’s a way of looking back to find inspiration for what’s to come. It is a foray into the process of writing music that is unbound by my own creative restraints and provides release to the sounds locked away in my head. Many knuckles were satisfyingly cracked while writing this one, so I hope it provides some release to you too as you listen and dance.
