Once again, Mickey steps up to the plate for Berlin's Exploited Records, and once again, the Belgian knocks it straight out of the park.

'Disco Lights' finds the producer on offering up what could very well be the theme tune to a club-based noir. A cheeky little ditty plays its part in bringing fun to the mix, alongside a sly piano, which adds suspicious tones. What goes on under the disco lights? Lee Foss has long been recognized as an artist of many talents. A steadfast visionary with his hands in all aspects of creative production, Lee's power has always stemmed from his connection not only to the energy of the human experience but also from the way that it is expressed through the conception and performance of electronic music. After many years of involvement in the musical community through his labels Emerald City and Hot Creations, his collaborative projects Hot Natured and Pleasure State, and his extensive DJ career, Lee is finally releasing his first full length solo album Alchemy, out now.

Alchemy comes at a time of inspiration and focus for Lee, after taking a hiatus from solo production for a couple of years. With work beginning in October 2015, Alchemy has been a long time coming for Lee, and is a cohesive body of work brimming with intent. Leaning heavily on analog synths and vintage drum machines with some occasional guitar and live bass, the album features guest appearances from frequent collaborators Anabel Englund and Infinity Ink, along with others.

About the album, Lee says, "I titled the album Alchemy because I've long been fascinated by the scientific and spiritual dichotomy it represented, sort of as the crossroads of modern science and ancient spirituality and its ethos of distilling perfection in the physical and spiritual realm. It's dismissed as pseudoscience now but most of modern chemistry and the scientific method stems from it, and I'm interested in a world that better combines the spiritual realm with the scientific and western medicine we worship today. I feel like making music is the modern alchemy as we search for that perfect series of tones to reach our magnum opus."

In recent history, Lee has gained recognition through the heralded Hot Natured album Different Sides of the Sun, their scintillating live performance at Coachella, and his eminent collaboration with MK and Anabel Englund "Electricity."

What’s Up Desert Hearts Family,

The next EP on the label comes from Hot Creations Queen and long-time friend of the family, Anabel Englund, alongside Desert Hearts mainstay, RYBO. Titled “Call U Rite Back”, this EP is without a doubt the most soulful release on the label thus far.

The A-side is laced up with the sultriest of vocals from Englund while RYBO lays down the perfect beat to match the vibe. It’s deep, it’s poppy, and it’s amazing. The B-Side, “Just For The High”, sees Anabel’s lyrics thrown over a moody tech house beat from RYBO and fellow DH producer, Lubelski. Finally, remix duties come from one of our favorite producers at the moment, UK based Mark Jenkyns. To round out the release, Jenkyns delivers a perfect kick up the ass to “Call U Rite Back”, making it all the more accessible on the dance floor.

One of the most enjoyable parts of Dirtybird is to watch a talented artist grow. Nala started out in Miami cutting her teeth on the local DJ circuit and then moved to LA where she eventually signed with VonStroke and Aundy's Motherbird Management. 

Her weekly Dirtybird "TV Party" on Twitch is one of the most popular shows on the network. Each week she features her unmistakeable punk & new wave-influenced DJ style while also hosting a special underground guest, as well as her long time friend and local LA rave legend, Richie Panic. 

Nala’s debut on Dirtybird, “Psychic Attack”, is a gritty A-side with her own vocals shouting about the nervous the angst of 2020. The B-side, “Sun Is Hot” showcases her gentler side with a deep groove, a smooth vocal tone, and melodic vintage synth riffs throughout.
