Raised in a quiet farming town in Illinois, Lily’s first outings with electronic music began after relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area, co-founding the Diacritic Collective - a group of music devotees passionate about vinyl culture - and later landing a residency at the long-running As You Like It parties. Fast forward ten years later and Lily resides in Berlin where she has unleashed her dexterous selection of techno, electro and leftfield electronics at institutions like Tresor, Pornceptual and Bewegungsfreiheit. Her production career spans over a decade, including releases on Perfect Location Records, Vinyl Dreams Records, As You Like It Recordings and compilations by HÖR Music, Bewegungsfreiheit and Perimeter Junk. Channeling her US roots and fusing years of experience with newfound inspirations in Berlin, Lily looks toward the next decade with hope, passion and an innate sense for the eternal groove of the dance-floor.

Our next podcast guest does not even need an introduction, meaning, if you know you know, that @Plant43 is a living legend within the musical world.

Inspired by Kraftwerk in the early 80′s Emile Facey was hooked on electro from an early age.

In 1998 he got involved with promoting electro events in London and soon after started writing music as Plant43. His first vinyl release came in 2006 on the much-missed Ai Records. Several 12’s and the well-received “Burning Decay” album in 2010 alongside other releases on Semantica Records, AC Records (acidlab.de), Bleep43 Recordings and Cultivated Electronics have highlighted his singular and ambiguous style of sinewy electro that draws deep from the influence of Drexciya. Emile is also graphic designer and co-founder of bleep43.com, which is dedicated to promoting and reviewing electronic music. Since 2003, the London based Bleep43 parties have seen him play live alongside such acts as ERP, DJ Stingray, Surgeon, $tinkworx, Microthol, Urban Tribe and many more.

Umfang aka Emma Olson is one of the most influential figures in today’s techno scene. As co-founder of the Discwoman collective the American is doing essential work promoting female DJs. Of course, her own productions and DJ sets also further the cause as they lead by example and mix raw tension with experimental eeriness. So far coming on labels like 1080p and Allergy Season, videogamemusic, and Phinery, Emma has also played seven hour sets at Hot Mass in Pittsburgh and holds a monthly residency at Technofeminism at Bossa Nova Civic Club. Next to that, the youngster just dropped her new, promising album Symbolic Use Of Light on Technicolour.

Clocking in at just over an hour, Umfang’s mix for us is filled with eerie and unusual rhythms that are often hugely roomy but underpinned by solid kicks. As the pressure builds, so does the tension, and by the mid point that boils over into raw and visceral drum tracks before falling apart into a flurry of distorted sounds, percussive hits and frazzled synths. Uncompromising and packing a lot in during a short space of time, it’s an eye opening mix that leaves you in a blissful place after a busy workout.

Marco Shuttle has been a hugely prominent figure in the Italian techno scene over the last decade. He pushes an abstract, hypnotic sound that often draws close comparisons with the legendary @donato-dozzy. He’s released sublime records on Dozzy and Neel’s label @spaziodisponibile, @thebunkerny and his own fantastic Eerie imprint, who have just released a remix package of his classic ‘Vox Attitude’ featuring @atom_tm and @pessimist.  As a DJ he has refined his sound over the years to be wildly rhythmic and trance-like and we’re very pleased to share his latest offering with you for Bleep #60.

Pure Immanence is the conceptual collaborative DJ project of Kiddo Sincere and Nick Bazzano, blending techno, ambient, house, trance, experimental, and archival sonic esoterica into a diverse array of immersive psychedelic moods, grooves, and atmospheres.

Pure Immanence is the collaborative conceptual DJ project of Nick Bazzano and Kiddo Sincere. In their performances, Pure Immanence seeks to activate a sonic plane of consistency that evokes multiple musical atmospheres and genres, from techno to ambient, to house, trance, progressive, experimental, and beyond. This is an experiment using sound to gain access to psychedelic intensities and affective potentials immanent to the act of listening and dancing to music together. Pure Immanence has held a well-received eponymous monthly Wednesday-night residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club since 2016. 

Pure Immanence is also associated with the Unter collective, having performed as residents and having curated ambient programming for their various underground queer rave projects for years.
