Setting out to create a future Balearic anthem while doffing a cap to street soul and synth-heavy Italo-disco B-sides of the early 1980s, Orbs of Light’s debut single, ‘Billion Days’ lands on Leng after a tip-off from Mind Fair duo Dean Meredith and Ben Shenton, who booked the duo to play live at their Rotation festival last summer.

Orbs of Light’s Baz Bradley and A Girl Called Kate have been friends for decades and have collaborated musically in the past, though it was only a couple of years ago that they dreamed up this project. It was first trialled via a 2021 remix for Andres y Xavi on Hollis Recordings (‘Perfect Timing’) on which Kate added new vocals to Bradley’s interpretation of the track. Since then, regular recording sessions have taken place, with the duo first crafting tight instrumental tracks before – in Bradley’s words – “dream up the best songs we can” with “melodies that will hopefully stay in your head all day”.

It would be fair to say that they’ve achieved that goal on ‘Billion Days’, a hooky and addictive affair whose vocal hooks and strong chorus could well inspire Balearic sing-alongs in the months ahead. Their original mix (B1 on the vinyl version of the EP, track 2 on the digital EP) is joyous, cheery and kaleidoscopic, with steel pan style melodies, bouncy synth stabs, jaunty lead lines and Kate’s wonderful lead vocal riding a shuffling, post street soul beat and a bubbly bassline.

The accompanying remix package is naturally very strong too. San Francisco crew 40 Thieves, fresh from dropping a killer single of their own on Leng (‘The Gift’, with disco legends Gary Davis and Cinnamon Jones), step up first with a take that stretches out and builds on Orbs of Light’s original mix – think wobbly nu-disco synth bass, fresh flute sounds, dubbed-out vocal snippets and a locked-in groove that’s just perfect for sun-soaked alfresco dancing.

Fittingly, the second and final revision comes from Mind Fair, whose email to Leng HQ about Orbs of Light got the ball rolling. Opting for a rubbery, body-popping beat inspired by vintage electro, they deliver a joyful, effects-laden Balearic dancefloor ‘Dub Mix’ that somehow makes a genuinely life-affirming record even more loved-up and saucer-eyed – despite the presence of only a fraction of Kate’s addictive lead vocal.

The sound is distinctly an 80s affair, while the title is a reference to the infamous USS Nimitz Encounter in 2004, where a certain pilot commander "F" and crew saw a Tic-Tac shaped craft, hovering and making otherworldly maneuvers. In other words, a certain object that was (and still is) unidentified and flying. Intriguing!

As much as any work of instrumental electronic music can be "about" something, Wille's upcoming LP "Shoreline Orbs" is very much about some of these as of yet unsolved mysteries, what their legimaticay may or may not entail for our collective worldview, and about refinding a fundamental curiosity seemingly lost in the wilderness of a bureaucratic adulthood, and putting that feeling to sound.

Davis Harks and Max Essa return for 4 tracks of impeccably produced dreamy pop, balearic wanderings and hypnotic chug.

Magic Eyes kicks things off with a track that hints at the sunset of acid house with chugging rave keys, back-in-the-day bass synth and a whole heap of soulful melancholia. It's a deep, slow groover with strangely hypnotic, repetitive vocal murmurings that soar.

Plastic Bones has baggy poetry that flows along to a positive mantra shining bright; 'come let it go, take the first step to lighten the load, you're one of a kind'. Joyfully strange and lovely, there's a Beta Band mood to go with dreams of the Mediterranean.

Finally, Blind Horizons is a pure extended odyssey of lilting polished pop. David wrote the song with the idea of taking a listener through a journey aboard a Cosmic Starlight Cutter. An epic and vast voyage, the sentiment is a reminder to keep searching. With a more classic song feel, it is driven by classic piano chords and cycles, drum machines, and layered synths.

Super FU are back with the first single from their forthcoming long player 'Physical Sounds', featuring some heavyweight remixes to get things moving.
 
The original is a perfect blend of disco, funk, pop, and acid house. Rock-solid beats, analogue bass, searing strings, and all kinds of synth action blend seamlessly with live instrumentation. Paul Withy and Sarah Lazenby trade melodies as the chorus swoops for a mid-tempo end-of-nighter.

The Dub strips out the pop and instrumentation but ups the psychedelics. Deep, trippy and electronic, it takes a hypnotic journey into a world of dub and balearica.

Next up, Craig Bratley brings the pianos front and centre, working the riff that comes off like Marshall Jefferson on downers. The vocals repeat as the track builds to chug and weave to the acid; cue smoke, strobe and dancefloor mayhem.
   
Finally, Leo Zero dubs the disco and rolls with the funk. Once again, the song shows it's strength is as it blends with the piano for nu-disco heaven!

Rune Lindbæk from the now legendary ‘Those Norwegians’ recording outfit has been releasing music since 1992. He has released music with seminal labels like Smalltown Supersound, Apollo/R&S, Noid and his own Drum Island Records. Rune’s musical output ranges from ambient to film music and balearic dub disco.

Karolinskii produces electronic music, mostly techno in all forms of dub. Karolinski, a self-described “programming nerd”, is also the founder of record label FJORDFJELLOGDALER (FFDR) and her work is treasured locally as a unique addition to Bergen’s rich techno scene.

A true deep house soldier and a purveyor of only the finest house, techno and everything in between, Ivaylo is a multifaceted DJ and producer based in Oslo, Norway. Established out of Oslo in 2014, his Bogota label personifies all that’s great about Ivalyo’s musical vision: colourful, eclectic and impossible-to-pigeonhole, it neatly reflects his own way of working.

From synth wave to Belgium new beat, Helene Rickhard plays in the brooding sounds of vintage synths and DIY drum machines through her sets. She has dabbled in the electronic music avant garde as a recording artist, but in recent years she’s dedicated all her time to the booth, from where she crafts mixes with a distinct voice that plays on the darker hues of the electronic music palette from a collection of underground cuts from the past and the present.

Ichisan - Outdoor Voices Mix

The Jaeger Mix is Oslo’s monthly ritual for deep listening and dance floor exploration, a midweek club night that doubles as a living archive of the city’s underground.
Taking place on select Wednesdays, the series pairs Jaeger resident Ivaylo with a rotating cast of DJs, producers, and live acts, capturing the sound of the night and preserving it as part of Jaeger’s ongoing story.
Each session is recorded in the club, followed by an interview with the guest, and later published as a feature on jaegeroslo.no - In this way, the Jaeger Mix lives beyond the dance floor — a document of Oslo’s electronic music culture, framed both in sound and in words.
Guiding the series is Ivaylo, a Bulgarian-born, Oslo-based DJ, producer, and curator. A long-standing Jaeger resident, label manager for Full Pupp, and founder of Lab Cleaning Jams, he has spent decades shaping Nordic club culture with his deep, soulful, and uncompromising approach to house and techno. His role in the Jaeger Mix is less about the spotlight and more about curation — weaving his own sets together with those of guests to tell the evolving story of the dance floor.
The Jaeger Mix stands as both a celebration of the present and a chronicle for the future, mapping Oslo’s nightlife one night, one mix, and one conversation at a time.
