Premiere: Brian Cid - Orbit The Moon [Infinite Depth]

Well we've got Style(s), miles and miles; so much Style(s) that it's wasted. Okay, the Pavement pun doesn't really apply here – nothing's wasted when it comes to Styles Upon Styles (@ susrecords), one of the best around pushing NY's hardware scene + community forward. This one, the first available cut from Certain Creatures (@ certain-creatures)' forthcoming LP, is custom-fit for anything but grotty basements. "An Allegory..." is a beautiful sketch with traces of rainforest exotica, but not exactly suggesting serenity – the nature samples get worked into the rhythm, creating an atmospheric backdrop to get lost within. Certain Creatures indeed.

Vipassana is out via SUS on October 30th.

As concept labels go, Third Son’s Polymath has quickly risen the ranks helped in no small part by the label heads razor-sharp focus and Herculean studio skills. New EP release, ‘Voices’ sees his wide palette well quenched with something for everyone. 
Opening with ‘National Anthem’ we are drawn into a world of precision breakbeats, wildly energetic bass and unnerving synth power. Gripped by the first wave of saw-toothed wonderment, it’s few who resist his charms! On ‘Tambora: A Year Without Sun’ deep sonics set the tone as Third Son deftly marries the sensibilities of UK Garage with classic Nu Skool drum work. Think The Prodigy vs The Chemical Brothers.
‘Boards’ takes the breaks deeper, darker and more electro. Huge 808s lead the charge as the pads and nuanced FX bubble and grow throughout. Rounding out the pack is crossover Tech cut, ‘Cognitive Dissonance’. Again, strong drum programming drives this track forwards as Third Son expertly adds layers of percussive tension and pads. On the remix, Clarian strips ‘Cognitive Dissonance’ back to basics and constructs a deeper, minimal journey.

German artist Perel lands on the Uncanny Valley imprint with her 'Karlsson' EP that pays tribute to her cat, as "there is nothing better than the soothing purr of your own personal tomcat to come down from exhausting DJ gigs and studio sessions". 

With the title track showcasing Perel's knack for delivering rolling synth lines contrasting deep and shimmering textures, to remix 'Karlsson' she's enlisted the always reliable NYC-based artist Kim Ann Foxman. Here she flips the euphoric nature of the original into a breakbeat house heater that highlights the fluttering synth melody with infectious percussive riffs. A proper dancefloor excursion indeed!

The 'Karlsson' EP, which also includes a remix by Bloody Mary, is out June 26 via Bandcamp and record stores, while it's also out digitally and via streaming platforms July 10.
