The feeling of getting a good pair of dark circles under your eyes and changing your sweaty outfit for a more colorful one. No judgment, only happiness. The night inside the club announces its end, the people have gone out, the patio is now the center of attention - a new day begins or continues? Tribal sounds come before what will be a progressive set and, at the same time, a solar catharsis."

Velmondo (@velmondo) is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist producer and Barcelona based DJ Arnau Obiols (@arnauobiols). His debut EP 'Moongazing' appeared on Hivern Discs (@hivern_disc) in 2019. In January 2020 he released the EP 'Mad Honey' along the Swedish duo MLiR (@m-l-i-r) on Prins Thomas' label Internasjonal, gaining support of the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Red Axes or Roman Fluegel, amongst others. Distilling a unique approach to acid, trance and tribal influences, the esoteric techno single 'Infinity' arrived in June 2020 through Nitsa Traxx (@nitsatraxx), including a remix by Marvin & Guy on the flipside. Velmondo also shares a project with John Talabot (@john-talabot) called Mioclono that debuted with the track 'Center of Things' in the Hivern Discs compilation 'Fragments'.

Recorded live on the HMAS Vampire, Sydney Harbour ⚓️🎶🌊

In 1964, my dad’s eldest brother, Franklin Morgan, was a 20 y/o sailor working aboard the HMAS Voyager & by all accounts a lovely young man. Frank was one of 82 officers & sailors who tragically died when the HMAS Melbourne collided with the HMAS Voyager during a nighttime training exercise. It was the worst peacetime disaster in the RAN’s history & devastating for dad’s family. 

57 years later, Frank’s niece (me) was invited to play an ambient set on board the Voyager’s identical sister ship, the HMAS Vampire. Bit of a full circle moment. 

NB: Although both the HMAS Voyager and Vampire were ‘Daring Class Destroyers’ ie. gun ships, neither ship ever fired at an enemy.

Preparing for this gig was at times very sad, and being physically on the ship felt heavy. This history influenced some music choices & the narrative that I built. You will also hear a ceremonial Yolgnu song to release the spirits of the deceased ❤️🖤 You will hear women’s voices singing in various languages, because brave women in Australia are now raising their voices & being heard 👊 Almost half the music is composed and/or sung by women. And underpinning all of this is one of the most powerful and beautiful forces in our world - the ocean 🌊

We couldn’t ask for anyone better than @isa-wolff to kick off our podcast series. 

Take a dive into her complex world of dreamy electro and melodic breakbeat. There’s a bunch of suitably kitschy and catchy synth ventures, a healthy sprinkling of melancholic acid, and some trance-tinged cuts that see you through, entirely soothed and grooved. It’s hard not to enjoy.

Hello and welcome to another episode of the WARPED podcast, this is mix 84 with a hero from Berlin, Marc Schneider. Every time i visited this awesome city i invariably would catch Marc playing some where and every single time he would drop a killer set. From playing in like weird work shop wear houses to proper clubs he has seen it all. Finally earlier this year when i played at Griessmühle i got the opportunity to play before him. Top guy with some top skills, i seized the moment and asked him if he would have the time to make a set for us. Boom :)
Top 1.25 hours of music from start to finish. A lot of acidy vibes and groovy bass lines all thru. Turn it up and you will know why i think this guy is jus brilliant. Enjoy

She's known for speaking through music even though her other self is a good talker too. However Julienne Dessagne, to most known as Fantastic Twins, chose the former this time and delivers the 98th episode of the art:cast series. And Julienne has to say a lot – musically. The “partly Berliner“, the other bits of her are enrooted in France and Scotland, compiled a sound composition that unites various influences and genres still remains true to one style, the Fantastic Twins vibe, namely a good portion of atmospheric freaki- and seriousness paired with genre-overlapping experiences shooting you in hyperloop-manner through her (sound)world and let you delve into a parallel universe that has yet to be discovered. Elegantly floating Julienne put pad-oriented parts, drums and vocals so smoothly together that one almost forgets those strange times we are living in as her art:cast covers all the emotions one can have.
