Swedish DJ and label head Philippa Pacho began her career in the illegal party scene of Stockholm. As a resident of Under Bron since 2012, she has gone on to become one of the most in-demand DJs, renowned for her legendary marathon sets, razor sharp mixing, and powerful, radiant approach to techno.

About the mix Philippa said: 

“I tried to keep a ’festival in nature’ - theme whilst recording this, less peak moments and more groovy, hypnotic and repetitive/trippy, more leaning to what I would play at a closing set.”

I dont often share recordings from my longer club sets but Open Ground is somewhere i instantly felt comfortable and I enjoyed these 6 hours so much that I felt compelled to share them with you.

Bulgarian-born, Oslo-based talent Kameliia’s sound leaves little room for misunderstanding. It’s ghostly, powerful and mesmerising stuff that leans on a wealth of inspiration from peers and the likes of Burial’s shadowy UK dubstep. Having studied music for four years, the production of sounds comes naturally, and on the dancefloor she’s given the space to test those personal and unreleased experiments in situ; that feedback is part of the process. Her sets too follow a formula, and a narrative thread that builds from more sparsely populated compositions to maximal, high-intensity techno, a vertical trip of the purest calibre. The threatening and world-shaking sounds she’s come to be known for have coalesced into a number of well-received productions, and made her a solid collaborator for names such as Amotik, Rødhåd and Setaoc Mass; it would be hard to imagine better company for the work she’s doing. Her cavernous and highly spiritual sound is soaked in gritty textures and characterized by a generous dosing of formidable bass, enough to get blood-flowing and her calendar packed with names like Berghain, Fold, Fuse and essaim. For Bassiani Podcast 265 Kameliia delivers a masterclass in atmosphere building, a skittish and salient addition to the Podcast series, you might want to buckle up.

@philippapacho is like a musical Swiss knife: she has exactly the right tool for every occasion, from warm-ups to peak time to wonky afters. It was a long residency at Under Bron in her native Stockholm that equipped her with those skills, and since moving to Berlin, she's gone on to make her mark across Europe playing all forms of techno. Late last year, Pacho launched her own label Phorum Records as a further extension of her sound, and she also curates tracks and parties under the Positive Source banner.

This August, Pacho joins us at Amsterdamse Bos for Dekmantel 2025 but first serves up this deeply cerebral trip into Millsian techno. It's a high-speed selection of sleek and synth-laced sounds rich in narrative, be that mind-melting urgency, more dark and moody undercurrents or a sense of cosmic unknown. Utterly timeless and effortless classic, this is techno in its most futuristic form.

For our 178th Truancy Volume we welcome François X, a producer and DJ from Paris who's strongly helped define the French capital's techno scene in the last eight years, bringing in some of the scene's most talented producers to the city for the first time via his Dement3d parties (which he runs with HBT). Having formed a long lasting friendship with another local hero, Cyril (DJ Deep) through coincidental meet ups at one of the cities flagship record stores, DJ Deep saw the potential talent in François' music and motivated him into finishing some tracks for his own label Deeply Rooted. This motivation materialised  in 2009 through the formation of François' debut EP Future Roots Vol 3. Since then he's continued releasing records mainly via Deeply Rooted and his own Dement3d label offshoot, whilst also being tapped by Marcell Dettman in contributing to his MRD label. We caught up with François to discuss his early West/East coast hip-hop years, early Paris parties, David Guetta and the news of his forthcoming debut album. He's also supplied us a with an hour of tripped out techy beats for our 178th Truancy Volume featuring music from Yotam Avni, Syncom Data and more.
