Based in Copenhagen, the half Danish half South Korean musician Schacke has been producing sounds of a large variety of different styles since their early teens. Starting with a background in Metal, Noise, and Industrial, Schacke has continually shown a determination to expand and evolve their universe through the exploration of electronic music. Since moving to Copenhagen around ten years ago, Schacke has run an underground label for experimental music, co-owned and run the legendary Mayhem venue in Copenhagen, and released music under a variety of different aliases on local and international labels.

As one of the original members of the Fast Forward collective and agency, Schacke has played a significant role in shaping and defining what has become known as the ‘’Copenhagen Techno Sound’’, which they helped pioneer with their first two techno records on the now-defunct Ectotherm label between 2015-2017 started by Mama Snake and Courtesy. Schacke is also a resident DJ and event organizer at the famous queer sex parties by feminist porn production company ‘’Bedside Productions’’.

Schacke has recently used their musical versatility to make soundtracks for anything from porn movies, feature films, and runway shows for major fashion brands and designers in Paris and New York.

Schacke draws inspiration from a wide range of different genres, usually using techno as only a template to explore and make genre bending fusions using a mixture of unlikely sources. With the combination of hard-hitting beats and rolling baselines, usually mixed with catchy leads and euro vocals, their tracks are always bound together with a precise execution of delicately layered textures, making Schacke’s techno distinctly recognizable yet strangely unpredictable. His debut album 'Apocalyptic Decadence' is out now on Instruments Of Discipline.

This week's RA Podcast marks something of a debut for Infinity Division, the new solo project from Canadian artist Ash Luk, best known as one half of EBM-techno duo Minimal Violence. (Minimal Violence had itself been a solo project since last year, when cofounder Lida P left the group.) Getting his start in Vancouver's punk scene as part of the band Lié, Luk's approach to dance music is informed not only by those origins but by Western Canada's long history with industrial music and techno (spot Skinny Puppy and Tunnel Canary in the tracklist).  

Minimal Violence first impressed us with their hardware-focused house and techno, a harder-edged version of the sound that was sweeping Vancouver at the time, before moving on to Ninja Tune sub-label Technicolour and then Tresor for a series of records that saw their sound become more expansive, sharper and more melodic, incorporating not just techno and punk influences but also trance, EBM and more. These are the genres that feed into Infinity Division, and Luk's RA Podcast hurtles through everything from old Prodigy, '90s German hard trance, Canadian breakcore and new tracks from his project. This is heavy dance music that's also heavy on melody, unafraid of huge crescendoes that hit that sweet spot between punishment and euphoria. Buckle up.

We have the pleasure of welcoming the New York-born, Paris-based songwriter, performer, and DJ to our milestone 250th episode of the series. Louisahhh is a well-established moniker in the scene, with releases on labels like Discos Atónicos and her own label RAAR co-founded with her creative partner Maelstrom in 2015 with the duo just releasing their first collaborative LP,' Sustained Resistance'. 
It has been lauded as “a very brutal, brave, and beautiful body of work” (Decoded Mag).  The two are presently preparing a live-hybrid tour in support of their album, so they hope to see you in the pit.
