Luke Slater’s most well known pseudonym Planetary Assault Systems is back in the fullest swing with 'No Exit', a standalone EP following his famed 'Deep Heet' installment series. 'No Exit' unmistakably bears all the hallmarks of Planetary Assault System, from mind-tripping and floor-stirring hypnotic energy to the theme of pushing the outer limits of unknown territories.
The EP kicks off with the title track, at its first breath of rolling beat already infusing an ample dose of psychedelic madness, which only to be intensified with the layers of digital chime tones that are constantly multiplying and shape-shifting. “Undertow” on the B side continues with the signature warping and reverberating bells and bleeps but this time with enticing hi-hats and distorted bass, gradually all melting into one big sinister groove. The last track of the EP “Nanendi” might fool you in the beginning with its minimalistic beat, but as soon as the demure yet ominous veil of melody - beautifully moody and almost spooky at times - starts humming and howling, it’s well on its way to make a deep, haunting emotional connection while keeps the tension boiling. Without a doubt 'No Exit' EP is the one that shows the most distinctive core DNA of Planetary Assault Systems and much like his seminal album The Messenger, it’s a deadly unique, dazzling, and powerfully effective work that will stand the test of time.

Jacques Renault is back, yo. "Psyched Up," off the forthcoming Talk System EP, takes all the sleaze and shimmer of the disco edits he made his name on, only a touch faster and more driven than we're traditionally accustomed to. This Sisterhood edit retools it further, adding heft to the kicks and bending the backbone of the track into a weighty breakdown halfway through. The EP arrives via Jacques' own Let's Play House label, which has seen cracking releases as of late by the likes of Antipodean BR favs Fantastic Man and Francis Inferno Orchestra; by pure chance, the latter of which followed up from the Sisterhood boys at our Tief session last year.

This new Henning Baer is, in short, a delicious double threat. The bouncing beat never truly relents, while a spacey synth does swirly business in the back. Unlike John Osborn's delightfully-monikered TANSTAAFL imprint (best Ask Jeeves if you're confused), we're not entirely sure what "Shopping In Jail" means. But if it's half as fun as this, we're all in. Oh and incidentally, Mr Baer himself might just be making a return to our screens soon – keep eyes peeled.

Gemini arrives September 7th. Don't steal it, though.

Since his emergence in 2010, Madben's melodic, Detroit-inspired techno evolved, with various releases on Caduceus, Astropolis Records, Off Recordings, Inflyte and Bedrock. Nowadays, the Paris-based artist remains a key figure in France's new generation of techno producers, with an upcoming debut LP on Astropolis Records.  Swinging from atmospheric sounds to techno, Madben produces an alchemy of rave anthems, hardware material and groovy, emotional music. With support from France's favourite Laurent Garnier, Manu le Malin and Rebekah Warrior, Fréquence(s) unveils his skillfull, mature universe.

12 tracks compose the album. The opening 'Space Bubbles' carries a cinematic, ethereal touch designed for dancefloor, from dusk till dawn. 'Mouvement circulaire' sets out a slow hypnotic rythm, leading to "Narcotica" and its warm melodies. 'MG's Groove', produced with master Laurent Garnier uncovers Madben's house moves, percussive beats and distorted synths. 'Reminiscence' and 'Stripes' wink at Madben's earlier melodic techno inprints, while 'Don't Lose the Beat' uses old school vocal as the LP's boiling point. Modern techno vision is underlined with tracks such as 'Tom & Tom' and 'The Struggle', both waving between UK inspirations, aerial sounds and Ben's original signature. Featuring with Manu le Malin and Rebekah Warrior, ‘Grief, Dance to Death' stands out from the rest, swaying betwixt French vocals and rave spirit, whereas the album’s last piece, ‘Lunar Park’, ends the journey with a gripping ethereal melody.
