The first Musik For Autobahns was a delight: softly-softly ambient and subtle cuts from the likes of Move D, Suzanne Kraft, Roman Flügel and plenty more besides. Even amongst Rush Hour's bounty that year, it stood proudly out. A ripple of excitement went through BR HQ upon finding out Gerd Janson was lining up a second, with no shortage of marquee signings all coming correct with their A game.

A number of heads come together to translate these thoughts into sound - from Fort Romeau's Drive-esque "Seleno" joyride through to the propulsive "Melancholy" of Disco Nihilist. Perhaps none elicit as many feels as the enveloping opener from Leon Vynehall though.

As well as being a mesmeric mimic of accelerating down Bundesautobahn 5 at daybreak, "Midnight on Rainbow Road" got our Debut nod for three main reasons: firstly, it kicked off last year's sublime set from Gerd & Ata (so, about time); second, it's a welcome return for Mr Vynehall after a richly deserved breakout year; third, dude's got previous with N64 titling. And that's something we can all get behind.

Charles Fenckler delivers the first single to be taken from his debut album Diving From The Void, the furious Stellar Acid, backed by a formidable remix from fellow countryman, Francois X. 

Classic rave vibes are the order of the day on Fenckler’s original track as the notorious sound of the 303 wreaks havoc, peaking and resonating intensely as straight up percussion and ominous pads provide the backbone to this dance floor burner. Concrete resident and D3MENTED label boss Francois X steps up with a very clever remix which utilises small elements from the acid line and pads to create and entirely new monster complete with it’s own pumped up drum workout.

Killer return for Soma's French wonder kid. 

The much lauded Charles Fenckler makes a triumphant return to Soma Records with the Distant Light EP. Charles ramps up the pace with 3 tough, acid Techno tracks - firmly aimed at dance floor destruction. 

Title track Distant Light opens with a thunderously distorted 909 kick drum and wastes no time in launching into a flurry of intense percussive elements, amen style samples and alarm like synth hooks. Texture 3.0003 has a decidedly deeper feel to it yet keeps the momentum going as Fenckler works in the acid to great effect. Tension closes out EP in furious fashion as trippy vocals sit atop a crunching drum workout with Fenckler keeping it relentless with his full on, raw energy.
