Here’s the recording of the 3,5hrs+ opening set i've played at Globus (Tresor)on September 24th, 2022.

It's by no means a perfect mix, but it was a vibe! I hadn't played in Berlin for a few years due to the pandemic and it was a special moment with friends so it feels right to share it :)

The set goes in different corners of music i've enjoyed playing these past years, even brought back some older deep house records which i hadn't played in a long time, music from friends and artists i love, and some old, new and still unreleased tracks at the time.

A little story in this mix:

Every school in Taiwan has a military instructor, during my school years I had to attend the ceremony of raising flags and sing the national anthem every Wednesday. During the ceremony the military instructor would instruct us to behave like an army, even in crazy hot days, if the students did not behave well, we would be forced to repeat the drill over and over again until its perfect...... 2018, this military style hasn't stopped...... my bizarre memory from my school days. In my mix I have included a track inspired from memory of standing in the middle of the running track following the military instructor drone being projected through the speakers surrounding us. 

This mix is my memory of those Wednesday's, beginning with nervous suspense, the mixed emotions within the cycle and finally the relief of being dismissed.......

Although unique, Jing occupies a similar space to Elysia Crampton - think weightless, dark ambient and ASMR-style sound design.
 
Released on the 8th February on 12" vinyl ADULARESCENCE’ via techno legend Steve Bicknell’s 6dimensions. The label, recently nominated in the 'Breakthrough Label' category of DJ Mag's 'Best of British’ poll, uses philosophy of the human mind as a conceptual starting point for its output. 

Jing aims to take the listener on an intense journey, challenging her audience by providing a unique environment without seeing it with their own eyes. If visuals are no longer present, can we hear a deeper story? While the content of ‘Adularescence’ is colourful, it represents a black and white cult-classic filled with emotions. It is accompanied by a short story on its sleeve, a narrative to its 12 experimental parts, taking the listener on an unforgettable trip. Dark, psychedelic sounds permeate the eardrum, a beautiful and disturbing concoction of images relating to the text. Jing herself pictures a suffocating man who cannot scream.
 
Although a new artist, Jing has had coverage on Resident Advisor, The Wire, Tissue, DJ, The Ransom Note and Hyponik.


Jing has performed at numerous underground events, festivals and clubs, including Fusion, Nacht Digital, Kranichie, West Germany, De School, Korner and Organik Festival to name a few. Drawing on an array of influences, cult films and fiction, Jing is an explorer, out to share her creations.

The Berlin-based DJ, promoter and local hero delivers an hour of deliciously off-kilter electronic beats.

Luz is a DJ and promoter who is as generous behind the decks as she is within the city’s club scene. She’s the cofounder and resident at Room 4 Resistance, a queer-forward collective that throws regular club nights in Berlin aimed at providing secure spaces for marginalised communities and highlighting underrepresented artists. In this session, she performs at No Room 4 Shade, the collaborative party between Room 4 Resistance and fellow Berlin collective No Shade.

Ziúr has emerged as one of the world’s most striking and innovative electronic music producers in recent times, so it stands to reason that her DJ sets should be similarly wide-ranging. In this exclusive mix the Berlin-based artist covers a huge amount of sonic ground. Beginning with Nancy Wilson’s soulful ‘(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am’, @ziurziurziur then zips between deconstructed club tracks, driving rhythms from Nyege Nyege Tapes, ambient music, artful electronic composition, leftfield dancehall and much more besides across the mix’s near-hour-long runtime. All of this stylistic hot-footing could make for a disparate set of tracks, but in Ziúr's hands they come to form a composite whole, one that is alien and futuristic yet also deeply emotional.

Our ‘Streaming From Isolation’ series is fundraising for The Global FoodBanking Network - whose work providing emergency support to people locked in poverty is crucial at this time.

As part of the series, our long standing partner Ballantine's has committed a fund in the form of 20 grants to be distributed to community-driven collectives around the world. These grants will be given to each collective to distribute as they feel best to support under threat artists and those most in need within their immediate community. This support is critical over the coming months whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place and impacting many artists’ ability to do what they love and to make a living.

Weekly takeover days of Boiler Room’s channels will feature performances and sets programmed by these collectives from isolation. Broadcast to the world from artists’ homes and private spaces, these transmissions are a way to stay connected while apart.

luz (they / them) is a neuroqueer DJ, curator, community organizer and nightlife disruptor. Co-founder of Berlin-based queer collective Room 4 Resistance, they’re also a member of Ecology of Care and Unsound’s Mutual Respect team. 

Their practice of nightlife is deeply anchored in queer feminist spaces, grassroots organizing, community care and harm reduction. As a DJ, their ever-evolving sound is at the crossroads of different styles and influences: bass, breaks, experimental, leftfield, D’n’B, deep techno, electro, IDM and more. They enjoy building narratives across genres and eras that resonate with their present moods and feelings. Their favorite dancefloors are intimate, sweaty, healing, filled with queer joy, cute weirdos and misfits from all paths of life.

Over the years, luz has performed at countless international venues and festivals, highlights include Panorama Bar and Tresor (Berlin), De School (Amsterdam), Et Andet Sted (Copenhagen), Hot Mass (Pittsburgh), Movement’s Industry Brunch (Detroit), La Station Gare Des mines (Paris), and more recently 5 Miles (London) as well as festivals such as Nyege Nyege (Uganda), Unsound (Poland) and Horst (Belgium).
