Fort Romeau continues to roll out thoughtfully detailed productions for Ghostly in 2013. In March, the London-based producer released the Chicago house influenced "SW9" single on Ghostly's sub-label Spectral Sound, and showed his versatile house rhythms in July with its follow-up, the Jetée / Desire single. 2014 will see his debut album for Ghostly — it's his second full-length record, with his debut album Kingdoms being released last year on LA outsider dance institution 100% Silk.

In the meantime, he continues to forge masterful house on this four-track EP, entitled Stay / True. The title track is perhaps the producer's most memorable track yet, a languorous seven-minute slow-burner that moves away from classic house territory in a more experimental direction, cruising along on a leisurely arpeggiated synth figure and a simple but effective kick/clap pattern. The more classically house-influenced "Your Light" is all tight kicks and vocoder-laden vocals, while the "Together" starts with the sound of field recordings and then drops a heavy 4/4 kick and even heavier bassline. The 12" version comes with an exclusive track ("Trust Me"), as does the digital version (the dancefloor-focused house belter "And Now").

Munich-based label Plattenbank Music presents its new release, a collaborative project between Maze 28 and Aman Anand. 

Maze 28 is the moniker of Albanian producer and DJ Mario Zefi, and Aman Anand hails from Bangalore, India, where he has steadily built a reputation as a forward thinking artist in the underground circuit. Both have carved distinct spaces within the melodic and progressive electronic music scene. 

The opener, Dreamspace, unfolds with patient momentum. Layers accumulate gradually, interwoven with subtle ethnic inflections that stretch beyond conventional genre boundaries. Percussive details, shakers, and open hi-hats lend a tactile quality, while the saxophone, introduced with restrained melancholy, becomes the track’s defining voice. 

The second track, Night Lights, takes a different route, creating a hypnotic 
environment where shifting layers evoke a sense of transcendence. The piece is a meditative projection balancing new sonic ideas with a touch of nostalgia. 

Maze 28 and Aman Anand show respect for tradition while exploring new ideas. Their debut on Plattenbank is a release that deserves attention and repeat listens.

We continue 25 years of Solid Steel with a mix from Photek, a legendary figure in music since the early nineties who featured many times on the show with tracks from Modus Operadi, Form & Function up to Pyramid from his recent album Ku:Palm, plus 'Into the 90's' from 1994 that also featured on Coldcut's Journeys by DJ mix CD. It's been a while since our last guestmix, and what better way to keep it lit then with an exclusive mix from an artist that's a housemate of the label and a friend, Satin Jackets. The last year has been a big one for this German based outfit (no pun intended) with releases currently sitting high on Beatport charts, productions in great demand, a worldwide following and the kicking off of the first series of live shows all over the place. Judging by the outfits work ethos this is only going to be the tip of the iceberg. 

Satin Jackets trademark sound is slow, sultry and brimming with optimism and todays mix reinforces this aesthetic. With a BPM that's in no hurry this mix is full of summer heat. With plenty of hooky vocals and a non pretentious approach to track selection this typifies Satin Jackets ethos of music to make you smile. We caught up with Tim and Den to ask them a few questions, some pertinent and some pointless.
