Born in Puglia, Italy, and now based in Berlin, Luigi Di Venere is a prominent figure in the electronic music scene. He began his career as a resident DJ at Cocktail d’Amore, a renowned party series in Berlin. His talent quickly gained recognition, leading to regular performances at esteemed venues such as Berghain/Panorama Bar and the fetish club Lab.oratory.

Skankstasy (aka @wandagaimes) is a music collector and selector moved by anything that jacks and grooves. After sharpening her ear while booking acts for her alma mater, Lecken, she began sharpening her own bootylicious sound. Whether as a dancer or a selector, Skankstasy's love for House gravitates towards the jazzy, funky, shuffle and swing corners of the tradition, which she serves with equal reverence for its US and UK legacies. 

Notes on the Mix /// "Simply put, I wanted to record a house mix for jazz lovers. I started collecting and playing more house music recently, mostly influenced by my foray into house dance. I had always been a fan of polyrhythms and syncopation but I only started understanding their somatic significance once I started dancing house. All of sudden you inhabit the beat and the space between beats with an entirely new awareness and you begin to understand that jack and flow on the dance floor require funk, soul, syncopation, and swing, not the mechanics of 4x4. It's not always easy to make space for this kind of house sound on the club floor, especially in places like Berlin. That's why I wanted to record a mix that's entrenched in the historic and somatic roots of the genre and the rich cultures of beat resistance that house music draws upon as a way to challenge the short attention spans and flattening of sound (and movement) at work in global club culture. Hope it grooves you."

Happy to present my next guest @drox My first guest from Eora/Sydney. Our connection was forged through the love of similar tastes through Soundcloud. Drox is a DJ, live act and producer whose DJing style can be described as heavily influenced by electro, industrial and bass music. His sound embodies a spontaneous charm that nods to early 90s Detroit machine music, rich IDM sounds, and dystopian sci-fi tones.

Drox describes his approach for this mix the idea  to imagine playing to the tail end of an all nighter — last set of the night or morning when people are winding down. 

He included a bunch of records he'd been slowly collecting together to record a deeper mix like this with some old favourites like Photek, The Connection Machine, Echospace and Basic Channel, some top shelf releases from friends — Albert Chiovenda, Neotex and Simon Mann and a new one from my label by a Berlin based artist Insomanist from the First Light EP that was released this May.
