"Fascinated by all things ‘sound’ and ‘listening’, Nithin Shams stumbled across his passion for curating listening experiences. His artistic practice revolves around facilitating listening spaces that allow listeners to enter an open, empathetic and attentive state of mind. In his free time curates mixtapes and tries to make a living producing podcasts. Nithin is also a violinist, and is trying to build a practice around live improvisation with the violin, field recordings and electronics.

Nithin grew up in a multicultural environment in Sharjah, like many migrants from his home state Kerala (India). On moving back to India, he was faced with the conundrum of 'identity' - feeling like he always belong-ed 'else'-where and 'every'where. Listening paradoxically helps him ground his being in the space he finds himself in, while also allowing him to fly around in the dreamscapes of various musical traditions from across the world. This mixtape reflects his state of mind as he was transitioning from one home to the other. He dreams of being able to sustainably live his life curating listening spaces for people.

Nithin is currently engaged in an artistic-research project where he is recording the call of the Azan as it reverberates through the cities, towns and villages of India. These recordings will be used to create an archive, and also to compose a multi-channel sound installation. This project comes at a crucial moment where majoritarian political movements in his country are working hard to rewrite 'history', erase 'culture', and change what it means to be Muslim(s) in India. "

TantRut is a DJ from a tiny Swedish island called Brännö where he started playing on legendary full moon beach parties. He usually plays eclectic mixes with music from around the world. More recently he picked up producing together with his fellow islander Högt i Tak. This mix contains their first collaboration. The first ideas for this Deep and Smooth mix came during the dark and stormy winter months. That inspired him to create his darkest and deepest mix so far.

Every now and then, life calls us to slow down. To halt the plans, thoughts and responsibilities clouding our minds. To take a moment of silence. To close your eyes. To breath deeply. As summer slows its pace, the cosmic energy invites us into a deeper state of reflection. Thus, we were thrilled when Toronto artist Sam Zenn approached us with the idea to create an exclusive ambient set.

“Life can be very challenging at times,” he explained. “It’s great to have a chill and uplifting sound to lay back, relax and/or meditate with, especially since nothing connects stronger with our true inner beings other than music… food for the soul!”

Sam Zenn needs little introduction. As a DJ, he is a true chameleon, adapting to any dance floor put before him. His rich, hypnotic sound and technical dexterity behind the decks makes him stand out amongst fellow peers. The only attributes that shine brighter than his skill set are his warm, genuine demeanour and humble stance. It’s no wonder that many of the country’s top venues have booked Sam, including Toronto’s Footwork and CODA, Vancouver’s Gorg-o-mish and Celebrities, and festivals like Bestival Toronto and Vujaday in Barbados. So without further ado, we invite you unfold a blanket in the grass, connect with nature, and entrust in this conscious journey with Sam Zenn.
