Butter Sessions tees up a flawless duo, Naarm (Melbourne) based artists Mousse(Simon Barry) and Trevor(James Vinciguerra) for a split 7" release with a screen-printed sleeve. Both artists add the release to their highly-regarded archives. On the A-Side, Mousse submits Northstar. This is his second contribution to Butter Sessions; a robust follow up to his funky explorations showcased on the Bungalow Classics12". On the flipside, Trevor follows up his 2019Becoming a Bed LP(Alter)with the astute Darron.


As one can expect, Mousse's Northstar is soaked in infectious house sequencing and sci-fi hypnobeat, while laced with dialogue extracted from the 1986 anime film Fist of the Northstar. The B-Side track Darron sees visual artist Trevor jumping from his contribution to the record sleeve into the record itself. The piece emits glitchy electro bound in coarse breaks but with just the right amount of room to breathe. As two punchy aligned compositions, this split release introduces a powerful pairing.

After a short break the Warning Mix Series is back with this gem by Berlin underground hero @DJ_Ion. His blend of dreamy yer powerful tracks is the perfect soundtrack for any morning - may it be after busy night or just to get out bed. Be sure to start your day in the best way possible!

If you like what you hear (you will!), have a look at the future sound of Berlin, including DJ Ion's amazing work as a producer (his debut came out earlier this year via A.R.T.LESS / @mojubarecords)  and dive into a rich variety of stuff coming from him and his buddy @premis as well as @tymotica who together with DJ Ion forms @thrivedmusic.

Any conversation about local producers with the potential for a global audience should feature Fader Cap (FKA Sedgwick). Hailing from Ballarat and now based in Melbourne, the producer/DJ is a bona fide studio head crafting electronic music soaked in hard-hitting electro elements, classic house motif's and warm, ethereal ambient soundscapes. When he's not DJing or performing live club sets on his extensive hardware collection, he looks after the daily operations of the very much favoured Potatoheadz imprint. It's a label releasing the kind of music that will be considered timeless in the not-too-distant future. Sit back and enjoy the sci-fi world of Fader Cap.
