The Brazilian city of Salvador’s deep connection with the African continent has long been a central influence in much of the city’s output, with legendary Afrocentric carnival ‘blocos’ such as Ilê Ayiê further strengthening the connection with the African identity over several decades.

A leader in this movement today – Batekoo: a LGBTQIA+ focused collective whose central theme is celebrating Salvador and Baiano culture. For Boiler Room x Ballantine's Salvador, we’ll be bringing them back to home turf for a celebration of the city at its most cutting-edge and innovative.
