Camila Milieme has been playing techno long enough to experience a few of its boom-and-bust cycles. Starting off in Brazil in the late '90s with the kind of rippling, tooly techno you'd expect from that era, Milieme lost interest once things started going minimal and took a break from techno to take up studying instead. By the time she checked back in, the genre had taken a turn closer to the stuff she used to play, so she packed up her bags and moved to Berlin, where she's become an indispensable part of the techno scene. 

As The Lady Machine, Milieme has released on Mote-Evolver and also runs her own label, Unterwegs, with UK producer Decka. As you'll hear on her RA Podcast, she prefers a classicist (yet, still, modern) style of techno that mixes toughness with texture and detail. With plenty of unreleased tracks from her cohort and tracks from British Murder Boys, Jeff Mills, Dave Clark and Christian Wunsch, this is a timeless techno mix for heads from any generation, from the '90s to the '20s.

Now in its 200th instalment, this Podcast has given voice to a diverse offering of global talents across the musical spectrum, from the democratic rhythms of zeitgeist appropriate techno and house through to more avant-garde synthwork.

The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. Psychotherapist by day, mind-hacker by night, here comes Leipzig’s Vincent Neumann with two hours of widely versatile techno and electronics. All in jagged dynamics and hi-NRG propulsion, Neumann’s mix is an ode to old-school raving, back when the DJ’s name was of no importance but the flow of the music itself was all that mattered, or when the true spirit of techno rhymed with riotous communion and a new horizon of possibilities, not some ultra fast-fashion side issue. The result is a fiery jaunt across some of those balls-out anthems old and new that got people converging from all around the country onto secret places, eager to let the socio-political frustration of their age out, regardless of how the norm thought of them. A manifesto-like set to play out loud and share around.
