The Persuader is an alias of Swedish producer Jesper Dahlbäck and is generally the outlet for Dahlbäck's deeper, house-focused material. Having just released his new album 'Skargard' on his own label Templar, we caught up with Jesper to discuss the makings of the album, the coining of his name, a past career in modelling and future developments for his record label Templar. Jesper's mix spans over more than fifteen years of Persuader productions, fusing together older tracks with new tracks taken from 'Skargard'.

We don't know Roman Flügel in person, but we have come to believe through many mail exchanges that he must be a one hell of a gentleman. Friendly, generous, intelligent. Add the words 'classy' and 'elegant' to this and it might very well sum up of how his music sounds. Yes, to us, the many soundscapes of Roman Flügel are the embodiment of downright dancefloor finesse (and by extension this distinction would even apply to his Alter Ego productions, which, quite frankly, we aren't too terribly fond of.). Take for instance his 2006 album he did with the vibraphone virtuoso Christopher Dell. Sublime. As Gilles Peterson said at the time: "That's really just my kind of minimal.". Well, you could literally take any Roman Flügel production: we just listened to the fine Deep Mix he did for Ethyl & Huxley on the soon-to-be launched label Saints & Sonnets. Or you could listen - and we very much expect you to do so - to this fabulous, fabulous mix.

Milton Shadow, Rubber People - I Wanna Be A Disco Beat

One of our first run-ins with Tijana T was through a photo she’d shared on Instagram, focussing on a pile of records she’d just bought from Berlin store The Record Loft. Among the stack were records from labels like Nervous and Tribal, giving us an early idea of her taste for 90s US house. That photo was taken in 2016, a year that also saw her making debuts at highly-respected clubs like ARMA17 and Bassiani. She’s been playing at clubs and festivals across the world almost every weekend since then, including a first date with us in Room One on 26th May.

Though she was involved in the music industry long before DJing, she first broke through in her Belgrade hometown, and specifically the city’s two best clubs: Klub 20/44 and Drugstore Belgrade. The breakthrough artist earned a reputation as the highly-skilled resident at both of these joints, playing an eclectic mix of house, acid, techno, rave and breakbeats depending on the mood and occasion. She’s brought the same energetic style to her mix for us, and how we expect she’ll be playing at our Exit Festival Launch party later on this month.

This new series is a journey to highlight engaging audio/visual blends, exploring the poetics of sound and space. Like designing a building, you think of shape, colour and form that dictates the overall feel/emotion.

Incredible experience at Kater Blau the other weekend - first time playing my new music in Berlin! There’s something about playing Techno to Germans especially on their home turf that makes me a little nervous :)  I put it down to the country turning out so many seminal artists & production heroes of mine. It’s important to me that the music comes across as authentic, adding something new to new to the already rich sonic tapestry.  Here’s an hour I managed to record from the set.
