This edit (originally created in 2008 for my dj sets) was supposed to be included on the recently released third Autonomous Africa 12". Unfortunately I didn't get permission to use it in time for that release but permission has now been given, so rather than wait for AA 004 in 2015 it is going to come out as a limited edition hand stamped 10" as soon as possible. All proceeds will once again go to the Mtandika mission in Tanzania - http://www.actioninafrica.org/about-mtandika.php

Blip Discs (@blip-discs) have wasted no time in following up their impressive maiden release from O'Flynn with another corker. Double sider Wrong Guanco/Shekere comes from label chieftain, Tom Blip - two slabs of afro house/techno with heaps of groove. With it, a loose thread is beginning to emerge: a solid percussive core being a strict must for any Blip package. “Wrong Guanco” pips the b-side by a smidgen, founded on the chops of a 70s solo conga player and bulked up tenfold by rootsy, drum-led add-ons from Leeds-based percussionist Sam Bell.

Tom Blip "Wrong Guanco" - Boiler Room Debuts


First new music from me in a while! but the first of quite a lot of new stuff dropping in the next couple of months. 

This remix of my cousin, Gwilym Gold has been around for a minute now, but we decided it was time to give it a proper release. It is originally a cut from his amazing record, Tender Metal, that plays from his own app, Bronze, whereby the algorithms change the structure, sound and musicality of the songs, whilst quite amazingly holding their pop core.. its quite a feat and a fucking great record. if you haven't checked it, I can't recommend it enough. (link below) 

anyway, I hope you feel this one, and snap up the vinyl, because that is the only medium of release for the minute. (350 copies only)

A recent discovery well worth your time is newcomer imprint, Salt Mines. The independent label running out of Melbourne is headed up by two producers and mates, Shedbug and Rudolf C. As part of Lobster Theremin's close-knit distribution outfit, Salt Mines share the philosophy of focusing solely on limited run, heavyweight 12" records. The music these releases contain, however, span the dance music spectrum with artists from all corners of the hemisphere.

Their inaugural release, Salt001 serves up a prime selection of cuts from their Oz hometown, all neatly grouped by an overarching theme of loose house and techno. EP opener "Summer" ranks as our highlight – five minutes of funky, laidback house from Milanese beatsmonger and a new name on our radar, DJ PHLOWGOD. The bar on this compilation is set high from its outset, followed up by tracks from both label owners, ending with a hard-hitting surprise by CoastDream. An apt round-off to a debut release well worth shouting about.
