Having taken a more passive role providing edits and live instrumentation for the likes of Errors and Clark in recent years, Wax Stag’s sophomore record II (duh) is a supple extension of that pastoral sound. The track titles tell the whole story, really: “Woodland Walk”, “Race To The Lake”, “Caverns” and lead-off “Summit”.

Longtime homie FaltyDL - a man who, as Thris can attest, enjoys the finer things in life (i.e. eating grapes and listening to jazz) - provides a grin-worthy remix of the already ebullient track. The chintzy samples and limber percussion harken back to 2012's Hardcourage/Our House Stab release - bold colours splashed left, right n centre.

Following his first ep for Accidental Jnr in the summer​ Bambooman is now back with something entirely different. The downtempo experimental designs of the ‘Feel EP’ give way to his latest offering ‘Shudder’. Available on 12” and digital the 4 tracks of Shudder weave through a club music tapestry like a chainsaw through custard. The opening and title track is hard to describe, a mix of off kilter synth stabs and hammering snare that routes you to the floor - it’s one of those tracks to whip out of your bag to remind the crowd they have no idea what is coming next. Track 2 ‘Grasp’ with a blissful Detroit groove under deep rich melting chords is a perfect blend of early funk house style and super crisp new production.

Side B opens with ‘M1’ a lazy floor track with washes of bells, static and detuned synth above a bed of solid kick and shuffling bass. Finally ‘Kyrian’ closes proceedings, another club friendly slice (despite being in a 7⁄8 time signature), the track could have led the EP in its own right but feels like the perfect bookend with its shifting almost garage like 2-step feel and glancing vocal hook.

Renowned Jamaican dub producer Scientist has remixed the track ‘Time’ from Ash Walker’s recent album ‘Aquamarine’. The track is released by Night Time Stories today, accompanied with a new animated video depicting a dream like drive through a nocturnal world.

About the new version, Ash says: “If I’d never heard Scientist’s music, I don’t know if I would be making music the way I do today. I remember my brother playing me ‘Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires’ as a teenager and it completely blew my mind. The definition and warmth in the drums and bass and simplicity and sophistication in the sonics were just spot on. It was also the way in which he structured tracks which intrigued me, and is a powerful influencing force in all of my music. Really deep heavy lows, sharp, crisp & clear high ends with middle that wraps around you like a warm hug. When I was close to finishing tracks I used to reference my mixes against Tubby and Scientist dubs to try to see what I could improve in mine. To have worked with one of the founding fathers & pioneers of dub music which bears such a strong influence on so much of the music we listen to today has been truly amazing and humbling. When I started making music I never once thought that I would one day work with such an icon, it just goes to show that anything is possible with a positive attitude and a bit of perseverance!” 

Released in July 2019, Ash Walker’s third album ‘Aquamarine’ was a cosmic explosion of sound and colour, rhythm, shape and patterns. An avid collector of jazz, blues, soul, funk, reggae, and all things in-between; Ash has DJed far and wide... from the infamous Royal Mail squat party to the canals of Venice, spinning vinyl in Brixton with The Specials to scattering dub across San Francisco and LA. His production output is similarly exploratory: his journeys have taken him far and wide, from tunnels under the river Thames to recording local percussionists in the Atlas mountains of Morocco. Inspired by a deep dive of sounds from artists including Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, King Tubby, Bo Diddley, 4Hero, J Dilla, Pete Rock, Curtis Mayfield, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich; his first two albums, ‘Augmented 7th’ (2015) and ‘Echo Chamber’ (2016) gained attention from the likes of BBC 6 Music DJs Gilles Peterson, Don Letts, Gideon Coe and Clash Magazine, XLR8R and MIMS.
