Veteran DJ and festival organiser from Cape Town Richard Marshall presents Sub Sahara, his new monthly show on OpenLab ⚡️
In Sub Sahara, https://soundcloud.com/dj-marshall-1 sets out to do the deep dive on the incredible music being made across the African continent, and only from the continent. Set in two parts, the first half will be music curated and introduced by Richard, the second half a guest mix from an artist from Africa with a short interview in the middle.
Volume one focuses on the legacy of the electronic music scene, primarily in South Africa. Songs of historical relevance make up the bulk of the show, with an interview and guest mix from 2Lani The Warrior (https://soundcloud.com/user-51443703) , one of South Africa's busiest DJ's and entrepreneurs and a rare gem of a selector.

Spanish-German DJ/Producer Manuel Tur has had a long musical history in his relatively young age. As a young twenty-something in Essen, Germany, Manuel Tur bucked the trend of hanging out behind the fahrradhalle, smoking Camels and drinking weiss beer, choosing instead to spend time honing his craft by immersing himself in the sounds of Ian Pooley, Masters At Work and Pépé Bradock.

Touring the world with his Fila Brazilia collective and much loved Pork Recordings stable, Steve has been a man of many pseudonyms and collaborations. In 2014 Steve chose to concentrate on solo work which has so far yielded three fine albums, the most recent of which last year's 'Hemidemisemiquaver' rightly found itself at the top of many 2017 best of lists. Here he turns in a super cool mix touching on dub, funk, disco and tracks featured from the new album. The sound nerd, as Sumo calls himself, was born with a  music talent. Since his childhood, music has accompanied him in every step. He started very early as a piano and guitar player, bought his first turntables at the age of fifteen and finished later on his master's degree as a composer and sound designer.

Today he works for one of the most renowned sound branding studios where he composes the music of various projects, such as for the Björk exhibition at MoMa in New York, the Smart trade fair presentations in Paris, Geneva and Frankfurt, the Bread&&Butter exhibition for Mercedes-Benz in Berlin and much more.

Sumo is spinning records for over ten years now, performing DJ shows in multiple clubs and festivals in Germany like 0711 Club, Freund & Kupferstecher, the MTV HipHop Open and New Fall festival and also for corporate events of brands like Hugo Boss, Karl Lagerfeld, Vogue, Grazia, Mustang and many more.

Besides the studio sessions and DJ gigs, Sumo hosts the “0711 radio show” for egoFM and produces the podcast “Rillencheck” in corporation with the Mercedes-Benz Museum and other DJ artists like Konstantin Sibold, Leif Müller, Dexter, Fatoni or Torch.
