We're doing things a bit differently this week and announcing our Postcard Club single on a Tuesday. Yesterday our good friends Joanna Gruesome announced their debut album which is due for release on Fortuna Pop and Slumberland (!!!) in the US. It was a big day for them which they totally deserved and we thought two JoGru related announcements in one day might be a bit much for some people. Alanna McArdle is Joanna Gruesome's most recent member and as well as singing vocals for them, she also produces solo work under the Ides moniker.

Her first EP released on Reeks of Effort received plaudits from all round; and rightly so. Alanna seemed to effortlessly document tales of heartbreak weaved with despair. As a listener, hearing the EP in full is almost a therapeutic experience. The same can be said of her postcard single 'Prisms' - with an added fidelity that wasn't present on her earlier recordings, Alanna's softly sung lyrics become even more effecting. This is no truer than when she sings the haunting line "it was over before it began".

Having been featured on several past AIH releases, we return again to musical mystros and all-round-good-guys Best Friends. They’ve previously dominated cassette tape, CD/photo book and pizza box formats so we were running low on ideas of how to get these guys out .. obviously vinyl was a natural and long deserved progression.

And if vinyl wasn’t enough for you, the band have put together a comic that will be included with each 7” (which by the way are a lovely frosted colour). All the artwork is put together by Lew Currie of Nai Harvest.

"Happy Anniversary / Nosebleeds" is presented as a double AA single - the former starting slow, teasing a glimpse towards a more mature side of the band before morphing its way into a heroic climax and unleashing a true summer anthem. "Nosebleeds" is an audible cross-country train that doesn’t even have time to stop at Salisbury, taking you exactly where you want to be before you finish your packed lunch.

'Happy Anniversary / Nosebleeds' is set for release on September 23rd but is available to pre-order now. Purchase just the frosted 7” w/ comic or grab a package deal with a dope new Best Friends tee.

Death Cab for Cutie "Lightness (Demo)" from the forthcoming "Transatlanticism - Tenth Anniversary Edition" in-stores October 29, 2013.  

In celebration of the classic 2003 album's 10th birthday, Barsuk Records is excited to announce that Death Cab for Cutie's "Transatlanticism" will be made available on vinyl after several years out of print. Both the vinyl reissue and a digital-only "Transatlanticism - Tenth Anniversary Edition" are set for October 29, 2013 release. 

The digital Anniversary Edition -- and the album MP3 download included with the vinyl -- will both include the original demos for each of the album's 11 songs, none of which has ever been released before.

Interested listeners can get the demos in four ways. In addition to their availability as part of the vinyl MP3 download and the Tenth Anniversary Edition, the demos will also be released as a separate low-priced digital release titled "Transatlanticism Demos" for fans who already own the original album. Additionally, the demos will be added as a special bonus to the download codes included in the Barsuk Years vinyl box set released earlier this year by Artist in Residence.
