In Overtones, Harriet and Margaret are the cultured and refined selves, while Hetty and Maggie represent the wild, primitive desires of these same women. The two women (and their subconscious counterparts) meet up for tea after a long time of not seeing each other. Each Harriet and Margaret has her own motives, while their desires try to push through Hetty and Maggie.
